Chapter 13 - Inside the eternal hell tower

When Jie Fu Lian entered the eternal hell tower, he saw a vast expanse of white.

His eyebrows creased together and he felt a little confused with this rather peaceful turn of events.

The eternal hell tower was a prison but it was also a training ground.

Originally, it was made as a training ground more than a thousand years ago, however, since not many disciples left this training ground with their lives intact, it was eventually turned into a prison.

As long as Jie Fu Lian knew, this eternal hell tower was supposed to torment anyone and everyone who entered it.

'Is it trying to torment me with emptiness...?' Jie Fu Lian thought to himself with a frown.

He was here to face off various obstacles, however, all he got was an endless scenery of white.

Where were the beasts and tribulations that he had to face...?!

With a disappointed heart and an agitated mind, Jie Fu Lian sat down with his legs crossed.

Since it was already like this, he decided to meditate.

An hour passed and he made no progress, however the atmosphere inside the eternal hell tower certainly changed.

It felt colder.

Jie Fu Lian regulated the warmth in his body and didn't let the cold air bother him.

A few minutes passed and the cold air suddenly turned into a cold breeze which eventually turned into a snow blizzard.

Jie Fu Lian gulped but still kept his eyes shut and focused on regulating his body temperature.

The snow blizzard slowly started growing stronger and it felt as if thin unnoticable blades were being thrown at Jie Fu Lian with no aim.

It pierced his skin and made him bleed.

No matter how much he tried to block it, in the end, it was all useless.

The snow blizzard was stronger than him and hence, he lost against its mighty power.

When the blizzard stopped, Jie Fu Lian had been left with cuts all over his body, from his face to his toe.

His internal Qi was also a mess and he soon spat out a mouthful of blood.

He quickly took out a high-grade Qi replenishing pill from his pocket and put it in his mouth, but it was also useless.

It was like throwing a single bucket of water on a burning village.

In the end, he simply gave up trying to heal his injuries.

He closed his eyes and once again focused purely on his cultivation.

The next few minutes were peaceful, but soon enough, it started getting windy.

The wind softly brushed against Jie Fu Lian's skin, making the man feel only a slight itch, but when fresh blood started pouring out of the random cuts on his skin, he realized that nothing in this place could be trusted.

Even the gentle wind was aiming to slice him into pieces!

Jie Fu Lian gritted his teeth and regulated his breath as he formed a barrier around his body.

This barrier was quite strong and managed to fight off the wind for quite some time. However, when the wind started getting stronger, the barrier also started cracking.

Jie Fu Lian's eyes snapped open and his eyebrows creased together in worry as he looked at the small cracks forming on the barrier.

He immediately took out Changbo and gulped as he waited for the barrier to fully collapse.

As expected, the cracks started getting bigger till the barrier completely shattered.

This time, Jie Fu Lian was a bit more prepared and hence, he used his sword to slash down the wind that aimed at him.

He moved fast, with both precision and power. For a few seconds, it looked like he clearly had the upper hand against this wind. However, when one looked closely, they would be able to notice that the man's defence was a bit unreliable.

If his movements were weak or slow for even a second, the wind would strike his body without any mercy and new wounds would appear over the old ones that hadn't healed.

Although Jie Fu Lian tried his best to fight back, at the end of the day, it was his first time dealing with such a situation and hence, he recieved some major injuries all throughout his body.

When the vicious wind finally stopped, he looked down at himself and frowned.

He was covered in red.

None of the wounds on his body had stopped bleeding and the blood had soaked his clothes and dyed it a deep color of red.

When he had come here, he had prepared for the worst knowing that the eternal hell tower wasn't infamous for no reason. However, it seemed that no matter how much he had mentally prepared himself, every second spent here was still filled with shock and pain.

He was a bit distressed but at the same time, he was also a bit excited.

He hadn't come here for a nice vacation. He had come here to experience suffering and that was exactly what he had got.

His body was completely overpowered by the eternal hell tower and only under such conditions would he be able to forge a sword of a celestial-grade.

The more injured his body was, the better the results he would gain.

If he needed to succeed, he needed to live and if he needed to live then he needed to succeed.

Only at the door of death would one truly be able to overcome all limitations and live up to ones full potential.

He sat down cross-legged and quietly took out his forging tools.

He bit down on a high-grade pain-numbing spiritual pill and started forging the sword that could shake both heaven and hell.

It was his second time trying.

This time, he felt that his chance of success was a bit higher, however, when the next tribulation hit, the blade shattered and he failed.

He didn't have the time to mourn over his failure and hence, he quickly gulped down another high-grade pain-numbing spiritual pill and tried once more.

An hour passed and his third attempt also failed.

A sword that could gather spiritual Qi from its surroundings without a limit...

The more he tried to make it, the more he felt that it was something impossible to make, but at the same time, although he had such thoughts, he still didn't give up and continued to try.

The more he felt that it was impossible, the more he wanted to try and prove that it was possible.

The tribulations never stopped. Sometimes it was the piercing cold, other times it was the slicing fierce wind and when even that wasn't enough to kill him, the eternal hell tower tried to roast him alive in this place.

At one point, he felt as if there was no part in his body which was left unharmed. From his head, all the way down to his toes, he was covered with bruises, cuts and burns.

If his senior martial sister Yin were to see him at the moment, there was no doubt that she would be angered to death. She had always told him to be careful and yet, this boy always seemed to be courting death!

Jie Fu Lian knew exactly what he was doing and yet, there was no hesitation or reluctance in his actions.

Actually, the chances of him dying in this eternal hell tower weren't that high since the eternal hell tower would only torture and never kill. However, the chances of him getting out of here alive also weren't that high.

If anyone were to know that the only reason why he entered the eternal hell tower was to forge a sword, they would not hesitate to call him crazy. Of course, if he were to succeed then they would still call him crazy, but this time, they would also add a 'genuis' before it.

Jie Fu Lian didn't mind being called crazy but he certainly liked the name 'crazy genius' more.

He wasn't born with great innate talent and perhaps he would never be able to stand on equal footing with Hua Tianshu all his life.

However, he was still an ambitious boy who had the willpower that even great immortals of this world did not possess.

If he couldn't be the number one cultivator under the heavens, he'll become the number one cultivator whose skills defy the heavens!

He tried to forge the sword a hundred times more and he failed a hundred times more as well.

However, he never gave up.

As his body started getting weaker and on the verge of collapsing, the eternal hell tower also calmed down and didn't give him any more trouble, fearing that he would really die with the next tribulation.

He never gave up and even at the verge of death, he only focused on forging the Qi-collecting sword.

He tried a thousand times everyday and he failed everytime.

Just like that, an year passed and finally, the fruit of his labor was seen.
