Jie Fu Lian sat there with a shocked expression on his face and Hua Tianshu didn't bother saying anything more.
He simply sat there, staring at Jie Fu Lian's face.
A few minutes passed just like that and in the end, Hua Tianshu couldn't help but ask, "Now that you know what happened, what do you plan on doing?"
Although he had asked this question, he wasn't really interested in hearing the answer since he had already guessed it.
This was Jie Fu Lian. He was a simple man and his actions weren't hard to read. It was quite obvious what he was thinking.
"I want to reinvestigate this case," Jie Fu Lian spoke with a determined look in his eyes, "I want to get to the bottom of this."
As expected, Jie Fu Lian had accurately answered with the words Hua Tianshu had expected him to answer with.
It was quite funny how this man was being this determined about finding the truth behind the destruction of the Yan sect without showing even the slightest interest in his own death.
Even now, the Yan sect was much more important to him than his own life and that truly made Hua Tianshu feel a bit bitter.
"If you want to reinvestigate the case then I'll help," Hua Tianshu sighed as he spoke, "We can start an official reinvestigation with the help of the HuiXue sect. I'll convince Sect Master Quan."
Jie Fu Lian nodded his head as he heard this and agreed, "I would prefer to do it alone but since it has already been seven years, I might be needing as much help as I can get. If the HuiXue sect is willing to help then it would be a blessing."
"Since it's you, we would definitely help," Hua Tianshu assured with a small smile.
"Are you sure you're the real Hua Tianshu?" Jie Fu Lian's eyes narrowed down on the man with suspicion as he questioned.
Hua Tianshu chuckled, "Are you still doubting me?"
"It's not like this is the first time we are meeting," Jie Fu Lian unconsciously smiled as he spoke, "I've met you three times in my life and you didn't exactly try to hide your real personality during those three meetings. Thanks to that, I was able to get a good understanding of your character based on my own views and wasn't blinded by your good reputation. It's the first time I've seen this new side of you that actually matches your rumored good personality."
Jie Fu Lian had carefully filtered his words and tried his best not to say anything offensive but what he really wanted to say was: 'How can this be you? Weren't you a selfish cold-hearted inhumane bastard who only knew how to humiliate and torture others?! How can you smile like this now?!'
"If you've only met me thrice, can you really claim to be a good judge of my character?" Hua Tianshu looked to be a bit amused as he asked back with a smile, "No matter how you see me, I'm afraid your perception of my personality has been flawed. I'm probably nothing like how you've imagined."
Jie Fu Lian awkwardly chuckled and avoided eye contact as he felt a little guilty for all the times when he had judged and criticized the man after hearing just a few words from him.
"But no need to worry," Hua Tianshu beamed as he added, "From now on, you'll get to spend a lot of time with me. By the time we solve this case, we'll be close enough for you to truly understand my thoughts and actions."
For some reason, Jie Fu Lian couldn't help but feel that the man's words were a bit unsettling.
"Hua Tianshu, are you sure you didn't take the demonic path?"
"Huh?"
"If you did, this sudden change in your behavior could easily be explained," Jie Fu Lian sighed and Hua Tianshu couldn't help but laugh as he heard this.
Jie Fu Lian had only met the man thrice in his life and he couldn't say they were close. In his heart, this man had always been an enemy and hence he had naturally thought that it would be best to avoid the man in this second life.
However, this situation wasn't as awkward or bad as he had thought it would be.
When the two sat in this room, facing each other and talking like this, one could even get a feeling that they had been old friends reunited after an unavoidable parting.
This feeling... Jie Fu Lian certainly didn't hate it.
Them meeting again like this and the man guessing his real identity... Perhaps it was a good thing.
"By the way, Jie Ming," Hua Tianshu called out to the man as he leaned his head forward and rested his chin on his palm as he asked, "Were you really going to kiss me?"

Like hell it was a good thing!
It was truly unfortunate and embarrassing that Hua Tianshu had recognized him!

He really wanted to slap himself when he recalled the confident words he had spoken!
"You were acting so bold," Hua Tianshu grinned as he added, "I was quite looking forward to it."
Jie Fu Lian's ears flushed red and he looked away.
Damn, this was the most embarrassing experience in his life!
To think that he had actually planned on going all out with this man just because of petty revenge!
He must have been crazy!
Hua Tianshu laughed as he teased the Demon King who was currently too embarrassed to hide his emotions.
"Jie Ming, why aren't you looking at me? Are you shy?" Hua Tianshu continued to tease the man, "You looked quite cool back then. I almost wondered if you were the real Shen Fang. Your acting is no joke."
Jie Fu Lian gritted his teeth as he closed his eyes and tried his best not to beat the man up.
"Jie Ming~ Why are you so silent?"
"Hua Tianshu, If you don't stop teasing me, I'm really going to kiss you!" Jie Fu Lian warned expecting the man to get intimidated and disgusted.
However, contrary to his expectations, not only did the man not get intimidated, but instead, looked to be quite excited by these words.
"So you really want to kiss me? Go ahead. Since it's you, I'll let you do anything you want," Hua Tianshu beamed.
"..."
Was this really the real Hua Tianshu?!
What the hell happened to his aloof cold-hearted personality?!

The next morning, Kong Xun knocked on the door of the Demon King's room and was greeted by Hua Tianshu who opened the door with his inner garments sloppily hugging his figure.
"What is it?" Hua Tianshu asked so naturally that it made one wonder whether he was the real owner of this room or not.
From his clothes, it looked like something had definitely happened but seeing that he was still able to walk, Kong Xun couldn't help but wonder whether the demon king had gone easy on this man.
"Why are you still here?" Kong Xun questioned, not bothering to hide his hostility towards the man. It didn't matter whether something had happened or not. At the end of the day, this Hua Tianshu was still an enemy who had come here uninvited.
"Shen Fang is quite clingy," Hua Tianshu yawned as he casually spoke, "He held onto me throughout the night. There was no time for me to go out."
A number of emotions flashed through Kong Xun's face as he heard these words. At first it was confusion, then it was disbelief, followed by a bit of anger and a hint of pity.
He coughed and cleared his throat as he spoke, "I guess you also have it rough. If you are tired or in pain, don't hide it and just go rest."
Hua Tianshu felt that there was a misunderstanding here but he didn't feel like clearing it up so he simply let the man think whatever he wanted to think.
In fact, he wasn't even ashamed to add more fuel to it by saying, "Shen Fang was quite passionate last night but now he's acting cold. I was feeling a little unwell but he still kicked me off the bed and made me open the door for you."
Kong Xun pitied and sympathized with the man as he heard this.
"Demon Venerable Shen can be a handful to deal with. These days, he hasn't been feeling well so you must also be a little understanding," Kong Xun added as he sighed, "Normally, he's worse! You are fortunate that he is unwell or you might have not even made it out alive. Consider yourself lucky."

Why did the latter half feel out of place when paired with the first half of the sentence...?
"If you regret coming here then leave already," Kong Xun added, almost sounding as if he was scolding his own nephew, "The Demon King is not somebody you can handle. I don't know what your motives are but It's better to quit and go back."
Hua Tianshu smirked as he heard this and replied, "I'm not going. Aren't my motives clear enough? I wanted to crawl into his bed and I succeeded so why would I quite and go back?"
"..." Kong Xun was left shocked and speechless.
