On the other side, Yun Meiyi had nowhere to go. After making the cab driver go around to tour the city twice, she still had not thought about where she would be going to rest for the night. If it had been any hour of the day, it might have been easy for her to sort the options but it was already night and she was left with no options.
"Madam, you have not yet clarified your destination. Where should I take you?" The driver asked with a soft tone.
And Yun Meiyi was snapped out from her comprehension. She looked at the driver and felt his complication. After all, he also had to return back to his home.
Putting on a sad smile, she said, "Sorry for troubling you like this, Mr. Driver. But I have not yet thought of any place in my head. If you are getting late, you can drop me at the next intersection. I will find another cab for myself." As she said, the pained humbleness became evident in her voice.
The driver looked at her through the rear mirror and the next she heard him sigh. "It's okay, Madam. I will drive you one more time around the city. Please think of a place until then. It is not safe for you to stay out until late. If you have a problem, I can suggest to you some good hotels here. You can rest there for the night."
The driver suggested and Yun Meiyi looked at him with some doubt. She had thought of getting to the hotel as well, but it was just that even after living in the city for the past six years she wasn't too familiar with the places here. Blame it on her way of living all this while.
"Give me some time, I will check something out." Yun Meiyi said and the driver didn't bother her for long. Keeping his eyes straight on the road, he allowed the lady to take her own good thought.
While behind Yun Meiyi pulled out her phone to check for the hotels. She was surfing the internet when suddenly her messenger popped up with a notification. Her brows tugged in confusion as she tapped on the messenger to check the message. And there it was the solution to her problem in one text.
28/D Golden Heights, North Pavillion. The house key is kept under the bamboo pot. Left one or the right one, sort it on your own. See you soon, my precious darling. ||
As Yun Meiyi read that, her lips curled up with a smile as looking up at the driver, she said, "Mr. Driver, you can take me to the Golden Heights, North Pavillion. I don't need to find any hotel." She said and the driver nodded before taking the turn towards the Noth Pavillion.
Soon, Yun Meiyi was there in a very affluent neighborhood of Qiging city. The driver looked back at her and said, "Madam, this society is a little strict. We won't be able to drive in until you get to provide them with proof that you have a house here or you are visiting someone."
Yun Meiyi nodded. She has also expected the same. After all, she has also heard a lot about this society. But what she didn't expect was the knock at her window the next moment. She looked out only to find a security guard standing out.
Winding down the window, she was about to explain her arrival, but before she could, the guard greeted her on his own as if he already had the information about her.
"You must be Ms. Yun Meiyi?" He asked to confirm and Yun Meiyi nodded to him. To which he further added with respect, "Miss, I have already been informed about your arrival. And I have been waiting for you here all this while so that you don't have any problem getting inside the society. Here, this is your card. It would help you access the elevators of the building and other services of the society." He said with politeness in his expression while extending out an elegant PVCA card to her.
Yun Meiyi looked at him and accepted the card. "Thank you for taking the trouble. But could you please guide the driver to where tower D of the society is?" She asked and the guard at once nodded before stepping forward to tell the directions to the driver.
Once done, the driver soon drove the car inside the society, only to bring it to halt at the entrance of Tower D. "Madam, we are here." He announced and Yun Meiyi looked out. Since it was already late at night, there was no one around and everything around was deadly silent. Silent to an extent when the sound of wind and crickets became more audible than the sound of the cab engine.
Luckily, the society had a good lighting system all around; otherwise, how scared she had always been of darkness, she would have long given up coming here this late at night.
After paying the bill to the driver, Yun Meiyi got out of the cab and then using the PVCA card, she opened the glass entrance of the building to get inside. When she got inside, she felt someone's gaze still lingering on her back. Turning around she found it was still the cab driver who was looking in her way.
She felt like she had missed something. So, turning back, she asked, "Did I leave something behind?"
The driver shook his head, "Nope, Madam, don't take me wrong. I was just ensuring that you get inside safely. I have a daughter of your age so I know how precious daughters are to a family. Now that I have seen that you are safe, I will leave first." He said and then left with his car. Yun Meiyi felt a pang in her heart.
But then she consoled herself. Not every girl was as unfortunate as her. There are ones whose family truly cherishes them.
Turning around again, she soon got into the elevator to reach the twenty-eighth floor.
