Jamal sat on the bed and watched Xaloc sleep. Even while he slept, his brows were furrowed and his breathing was still ragged as if rest still eluded him in his sleep.
Jamal could only reach out, stroking his hair and hoping that it would provide a smidgen of comfort. He soon noticed something from the corner of his eyes, it was a tattoo of a beautiful purple hyacinth moving slowly along Xaloc's shoulder down his wrist until it bloomed on his palm.
Xaloc's soul weapon.
A vine extended from the flower, wrapping itself around Jamal's wrist, using the vine as a transport, it moved, landing on Jamal's hand.
Jamal was speechless. He knew this flower was the same sunflower that had shivered over his petting and he had a feeling that it had returned in Xaloc's absence for more petting. He smiled and lightly stroked it.
"Next time. I promise." He did not know if his touch would wake Xaloc and he did not want to change that either.
