Chapter 6 - Mr. Green Is Back

Cynthia sat down with today's newspaper and her most valued cup of coffee. George insisted on coming back with her to the mansion, she didn't mind that one bit, they could work together from her office.

That was until he spilled coffee all over himself 'by accident' and went up to one of the guest rooms to take a quick shower.

Cynthia sighed long and heavy, deciding to focus back on her coffee. She was only allowed one cup of coffee a day ever since she got pregnant, which made it priceless. She agonized long on whether to enjoy it while it was hot the way she loved it, or whether to leave it to cool down and prolong the experience.

Being pregnant was sure, not easy.

She had her revenge plan laid over in front of her next to the coffee table, she admired the check mark next to the first line there, feeling triumphed.

a. Ruin their wedding day (check!)

She eyed the next item on the list and sighed again.

b. Drive him to bankruptcy ( )

The second item was a bit harder than the first one.

'Maybe my items should have sub-items,' Cynthia was questioning what she thought to be an impeccable list now, her plan to bring her ex down to his knees was very simple, she was going to take away everything she gave him.

'Let's see how good your business does when your suppliers refuse to do business with you,'

Professionally speaking, her ex's company was an independent branch of Evans-soft, he called it Green-soft as Green was Henry's last name, but according to him, he named his company Green because it was the color of Cynthia's eyes.

'What a load of bullshi*' she mused to herself with a scoff.

The color she hated most nowadays was, none other than green. She cringed when she thought her boy might have green eyes. She squeezed her eyes shut and clapped her hands together as if she was praying.

"Revenge, any color but green is okay honey, please baby. Be good to mommy!"

She opened her eyes and they drifted back to the second item on her revenge list again. She rubbed her cheek thoughtfully. Cynthia couldn't fight him on the customer's base, his company was great at sales and users were loyal causing the demands to maintain a subtle high level overall.

"Sales is the hypocrite's best quality... But suppliers cannot ignore us," she murmured to herself.

If Green-soft had no means to acquire the raw materials it needed for manufacturing, even if it produced popular products and was a good brand for buyers, that won't be sufficient. Its lack of demand fulfilment will hurt the business's reputation and decrease the market share.

Cynthia wanted to force him to sell shares, she wanted to buy all of them.

"Once I become his boss, the first thing I'm going to do is to fire his sorry as*" She bit her tongue for swearing loud in front of her unborn baby twice today, "Ugh... sorry baby! Mommy will get that bad habit under control before you can repeat the things she says! Promise!"

Cynthia put down the cup of coffee, there were exactly two sips left. She hated how everything in her life still revolved around her ex, she couldn't wait until her plan is done and he was out of her way once and for all.

*Knock, Knock, Knock*

Three soft knocks on her door meant that her nanny was the one outside asking for permission to come in.

"Come in nanny,"

Her nanny came inside, her face was solemn and pale. Cynthia almost jumped out of her seat, alarmed by her nanny's demeanor.

"What is it nanny, are you okay? Is something bothering you?"

"Cynti..."

Her nanny never got rid of formalities unless something had gone incredibly wrong. Cynthia moved over to her nanny's side and held her hand firmly with hers.

"What is it?"

"Mr. Green has come again; he's threatening to do 'that' if you don't invite him in."

'It took him long enough.' Cynthia thought bitterly.

Her nanny's hand shook three times while Cynthia squeezed hard on it.

"Don't do that nanny, I'm two seconds away from hiring an assassin and just getting it over with!"

"Shh child! Don't joke about something like that!"

Cynthia raised an eyebrow.

She was not a murderer, but the fact that her nanny took her attempt to change the mood so seriously spoke volumes of the way Cynthia was perceived by Mrs. Edinburgh. It made Cynthia mad. So just like when she was a teenager, she decided to push her nanny's buttons more instead of calming her.

"Who said I was joking, nanny?"

When the woman's hand visibly shook again, Cynthia backtracked, "Nanny, you think I sat in this mansion for all those long months planning the perfect revenge list just to throw all that aside and have someone end his life? That would be too much of a waste..."

"…It's true, every life is dear, even a life as twisted and as dark as his,"

"Oh... The waste would not be his life, the waste would be my time,"

Mrs. Edinburgh's eyes grew wider.

'I knew George was lying when he said I was funny,' Cynthia thought to herself. Cracking jokes was not Cynthia's specialty, she did not have the looks or the personality for it.

She cleared her throat, "Allow him to come in, have the butler and two security personnels stand by the door... That should piss him off real good..."

Her nanny looked at her with teary eyes, "It's all my fault you have to bear the sight of that awful man…"

"We already knew he'd threaten us with his mother's ownership over your family's house, it took him long enough to finally do it..." A pang in her heart made her uneasy. "Oh, I didn't mean that I was looking forward to him using that card against me, he's doing this because of revenge... that's why he's here again,"

She placed her hands on her belly, 'Yes, he is not here for me, he's here for revenge,'

"But...perhaps..." Mrs. Edinburgh was about to argue but Cynthia stopped her.

"Go on now nanny, the sooner I see him the sooner it's over and done with."

"Alright, Ms. Evans. I'm calling the butler and security here..."

"Yes, do that,"

Mrs. Edinburgh left the room with some color back in her usually rosy and healthy-looking cheeks. Cynthia smiled broadly; Her ex's attention was already getting directed back to her as planned.

"Enjoy the taste of your own medicine, Sally Russo." Cynthia suddenly realized that the name was not correct anymore. 'She's Sally Green now,' she thought darkly.
