Chapter 13 - Off-limits

"W-What?!"

"Yes the Adams, it's in our history book we could show you sometime" Miles offered with a smile.

I definitely need to ask my aunt about my mother's side of the family, like for real?

"It's the Devereaux's!" Sarah said squealed quietly and all attention on this table seemed to divert to another far away, and I followed, whirling.

I saw Dace and two others seated at a lunch table engaging in small talks, was it just me? Or do all of them look like they just came off a magazine?

"The one on the right, the straight black hair, is Emilia Devereaux, Dace's little sister, I think she's in 10th grade 1 year behind from us"

My orbs darted to Emilia. She was so beautiful. Her raven hair was kept short to fall on her shoulders, a fringe to it which was scanty, falling to her forehead reaching just beneath her eyelashes. I noticed some purple strand to it, her dress sense was just so captivating and fashionable, it must be her style to ridicule other girls like us for not dressing properly. She had on a mini skirt, her legs crossed and I noticed the knee-length boots she wore and the net leggings, a crop top, and a white jacket on top that she let fall off her shoulders.

She laughed at some joke and I could tell they were melodies to hear, her skin was smooth and fair and her lips were the brightest pink.

"And the other next to her, their cousin, Lucas Devereaux"

My eyes darted to him, he had dark blond hair slightly curly, full and thick at the top, the back smooth and short just like Dace's hairstyle but his... were more defined and it looked perfect on him, his blond hair slid backwards, he was just as handsome with that aura that seems to draw you in at first glance, he was on ash sweater, despite that I could tell he was ripped with all those lean muscles lying around, even if I could not see it.

"Check out those shoes," Henry said, probably checking out Lucas' attire like he was seeing a live model before him. But I wouldn't blame him, I was quite captivated by their sense of dress style. Everything about them seems to scream expensive even though they don't want it to.

Lucas seemed to be the one talking as Emilia just laughed to her heart's content. And then my eyes darted to Dace, leaning on his chair, a leg slanted on top of his lap, a small smile on his lips, on some occasions he opened his mouth to speak and he couldn't be more breathtaking as he did it, even as he grabbed the can of coke bringing it to his lips and taking a sip from it, who knew drinking coke could be so sexy? I licked my lips.

"Dace is the hottest, Lucas is mouth-watering too but Dace is just…" Sarah said with a sigh and I snapped out of my trance looking away.

"Come on Sarah, you have had a crush on him since like what, 9th grade? Wake up" Miles teased.

"Shut up!" she gave him a look of annoyance.

"The Devereaux's are off-limits," Henry said in a sing-tone voice.

"W-What do you mean off-limits?" I asked.

"Apparently no one is good enough for them," Owen said. "Just stay clear of them Emma, they are so full of themselves"

"R-Right'' I whispered, I felt antsy and the hairs at the back of my neck stood up in alert, I was forced to look back and I found Dace's eyes on me, my body tensed at his unreadable gaze. My eyes darted and I lock gaze with Emilia, staring into her dark hazel eyes the complete opposite of Dace's, I freeze up, the look she gave me was cold and it made a cold shiver run down my spine but then they turned puzzled as her head tilts to the side, an action that made her similar to Dace. I couldn't look away from her beautiful face, she was like some cold dangerous beauty.

Her eyes darted to Dace and back to me before moving back to him, she shrugged muttering something under her breath and then I realized Dace was looking right at her but he wasn't saying anything, I noticed she got uncomfortable with a slight frown.

"Emma!"

"Yes," I snapped my head forward.

"Look I know they are like angels on earth but don't stare too long" Owen teased with a sweet smile and the rest giggled.

"Right," I muttered blushing in embarrassment, pulling some strands of my strawberry blond locks behind my ears. I felt my back burn with ardent gazes. Were all three of them looking at me right now?
