Chapter 8 - Chapter 8

She checked out the first job she saw on the net, but it was not promising. As usual, they needed someone with credentials.

Then, she went to look for the other job, but no luck.

"But how will I ever get an experience if they would never give me a chance?" She questioned the logic of the people conducting the interview.

Then, she remembered a text message from a friend telling her about another job opening. But she also doubted that it would also pay out. Unfortunately, someone had already filled the position by the time she had her interview.

Then, she remembered another one. Somehow, she was losing hope she would find any chance with this one, too. But she better check it out. So, this would be her last stop for the day.

"Please just give me a break." She came down from her car, hoping that this time, she would finally get hired.

She found out about this job from a friend working for this building. She met him in one of the gigs she attended last year, and they had hit it off. He was one of the reasons why she chose to move to this place.

She had never tried working for an office before, looking at the imposing building before her. She never liked wearing those stuffy clothes, but it seemed she had no choice if she would ever be fortunate to land this job.

Her uncle had offered her a job as an intern in his company. But she never liked the idea of nepotism. It never appealed to her to use him to get a job she did not deserve.

She entered the lobby of the building and stopped to admire its size. Although it was not the first time she had been in a building like this, she could not help but be in awe. It was indeed massive and exquisite.

"Miss, you are standing in the way. Would you move to the side?" A big man in a black suit tapped her shoulder, shoving her to the side. Based on his uniform, the earset in his ears, and the holster on his waist, she could tell he was from security.

She quickly stepped aside as several people entered the building in a hurry. So, she moved along forward, not wanting to block the entrance. Soon, she was lining up at the front desk, waiting for her turn.

But a woman standing at her side suddenly gasped at the commotion at her back. "That is him. He is so handsome." The woman said to her companion, pointing to someone at their back, who nodded her head in agreement.

Out of curiosity, she followed their gaze, wondering who they were talking about, but she could guess it might be an actor or someone famous.

A group of men in black suits walked along with the expansive lobby, accompanied by the same men who shoved her aside earlier. Probably, some big shots, she thought as she stared at their backs.

"Next." Her attention shifted to the counter, where a woman stared at her. But before she moved away from the girls, she heard something piquing her interest.

"I heard he is a prince from..." The girl was saying, but she never heard the rest of the story as she stepped closer to the desk.

It was probably just a coincidence. That man could not be the only prince in this city. She quickly glanced at the retreating back of the men but barely saw any of their faces.

"Excuse me, but I am looking for the Human Resources Department. I am here to apply for a job." She immediately explained to the woman who sat at the reception desk when it was her turn, dismissing the idea that he was the prince she saw the other day.

"Are you here for the Personal Assistant position?" The receptionist asked her, glancing at her briefly. Then, she tapped on her computer and answered calls while waiting for her answer.

She contemplated the question at first as she tried to remember what her friend had told her. She listened attentively to his bubbling on the phone when he suddenly mentioned another gig. Then, she had forgotten all about the job and its description.

But what did a Personal Assistant do anyway?

"Yes," Luisa felt she had no choice but to answer instead of getting dismissed on the spot.

Besides, Vinnie said that it did not need any experience. She could quickly learn the job. All she needed was a good disposition and a friendly smile.

"Ok. Fill out this form and submit it to me, and I will pass it to the HR recruiting team and call you for your scheduled interview." The busy woman on the desk told her, handing her a clipboard and a pen.

Then, the receptionist returned her eyes to the screen, ignoring her again. She wanted to ask about the job, but that would make her look stupid. So, she sat on the couch and started filling out the form.

Once she gave the form to the woman, she told her they would contact her. That was it. She never believed they would call after they had reviewed her information.

"Thanks," Luisa said, walking defeatedly away from the woman towards the exit.

Anyway, she could always look for a job if this should not work, the next day and the next. She could not give up after a few bumps. Her mother raised her to be a fighter, not a quitter.

But she barely reached the door when a voice hollered to her. "Miss?" He called, but she first assumed it was not for her. "Luisa Richmond." He continued when she did not stop right away.

This time, hearing her name forced her to stop. Turning around, a man in an expensive suit she slightly recognized stood a few feet away from her.

Her eyes scrutinized his face, staring into every inch of his facial features, confirming that he was the boy she had known from her past.

Although, she could tell he had changed significantly from the last time she saw him. She believed it was around three years ago, but she still could see the similarities.

"Cole Mason, is that you?" She greeted him, amazed to see a familiar face in this place. When he nodded for confirmation, she smiled.

He still looked very handsome. Much more now that he had matured.

She always had a crush on him, but just like all the wealthy, prominent, and intelligent students in school, he was unreachable to a girl like her.

But she was happy that he had not forgotten about her. She was glad to see an old friend.
