"Is it done yet?" Emily asked Angelo as he walked through the doors. He had been gone for nearly three hours since he left to drop Chalotte off at the airport. Added to her punishment, Charlotte was to have her allowance cut in half, her movements monitored, and whatever she purchased searched.
The atmosphere around the house had been gloomy, so much so that none of the helpers had intersected with Emily since Angelo left, and everyone was very much aware of what had taken place to some extent. Emily was very much not afraid of the helpers telling the tabloids anything; after all, Angelo had made sure to make each and every one of them sign an NDA once their employment had been confirmed.
He strolled further into the living room, removed his tie, and threw it on the floor before sitting down. He then looked up at Emily, and even though he smiled at her, it did not reach his eyes; it was a painful smile that reflected the pain of betrayal that he was feeling.
