Watching Adrienne break into tears, Lennox felt his heart ache for her. He wished he could take all the pain away. This wasn't the reunion he expected once Adrienne regained consciousness. He was hoping for joy and relief, not this overwhelming sorrow.
Adrienne's scream was heard within their manor. It awakened Rosemary and Hunter, who were staying in the other rooms on the same floor. Hunter opened the door without hesitation and rushed toward the source of the scream, his heart pounding with fear.
"Addie? What happened?" Hunter exclaimed, desperately searching for answers. What could possibly happen for his sister to scream in the middle of the night?
"I'm not the cursed child. Why won't you believe me?" Adrienne pleaded, tears streaming down her face.
He and his mother found his sister curled on the bed, her entire body trembling in fear, while Lennox sat next to her, looking equally frightened and concerned.
