He asked his assistant, Daniel Owens who nodded solemnly in response. "I believe so, sir," Daniel replied, his voice tinged with sympathy. "Cindy has always been resilient. She'll come, even if it takes her some time to gather her thoughts."

Alexander nodded, his expression a mixture of hope and apprehension. He desperately wanted Cindy to walk through that door, to see her face one more time and to hold her in his arms. But he also feared what her decision might be, knowing that it could change their lives forever.

As they waited in tense silence, Alexander couldn't help but replay their most cherished memories in his mind. The laughter, the tears, the moments of intimacy—they all flooded his thoughts, reminding him of the depth of his love for Cindy.

He met her when he was five years old. At that time, Cindy's mother, Millicent Richards had been very happy when he came over with his father, Roman Sterling.
