Chapter 16 - Episode 16: Keep On Gawking At It

"Why are there still no explosions?" Aaron asked as they looked up at the palace.

"Why would you be looking for that?" Preshea looked at him with a frown.

"She had been there for half an hour now. That much means everything is not going smoothly. If she snaps then the palace would be in rumbles already," Aaron was being hysterical.

He looked at Spencer, who was sitting on the ground under the shade of a tree.

"Why are you dozing off now?"

He started shaking him, "Can't you see that something terrible is going on?!?!"

"Let… me… go… what terri… ble?" Spencer has his eyes closed.

"It is too quiet!!!" Aaron exclaimed.

"Isn't that fine… let me sleep… zzzz."

Aaron was about to shake him even more vigorously when he heard the sound of the gate opening and Luna walked out.

"Ah, she's out. But… she doesn't seem okay," Aaron commented.

Spencer, who was still dozing off a while ago, stood up upon hearing Aaron's comment.

Indeed, Luna had on a poker face but something seemed off.

After getting close, she walked to the side.

They watched her bend over as she started hurling up what she had eaten a while ago.

"Luna!!"

She raised her hand and finished her business before settling down.

"Let us just leave this place now," she said walking ahead of them,

They looked at one another but simply followed and did not ask anything because it seems that she does not want to speak about it in this place.

She continued walking until they got to a stall where she bought some water. Drank it in one go before she continued walking away.

Her destination was none other than the main gates of the kingdom.

"Do you have anything you still need from that house?" she asked after reaching the gates.

"Nothing more. We have everything with us always, that is just a place for resting," Spencer replied.

They barely had anything despite staying there for two years. Since they always take missions, they are always outside.

They have also contacted the owner of the house while Luna was inside the palace a while ago. They knew once she is out then they are out of this kingdom as well.

"Good, let us not stay any longer in this place," Luna finally turned her back from the kingdom they had lived in for so long.

A kingdom both familiar and unfamiliar to them.

After stepping out of the gates, she waved her hand above her head.

The four looked at her in bewilderment while she smiled at them.

She continued walking, still without saying anything.

They simply followed until they reached the mountain range.

She turned to look back at Circinus Kingdom.

Even from the distance they are at, they can make out the people in it and most of them are in a panic.

The other four furrow their brows while Luna was smiling from ear to ear.

"Isn't this fun?" she asked them.

"What did you do?" Preshea wondered.

Luna grinned, "Those statues are too ugly."

Their eyes widened, the waving of her hand a while ago was because of that.

She used gravity to destroy the statue.

No one would be able to find the reason for it since no one in the present time can use gravity at such a distance.

The main gate of the kingdom was 3 kilometers away from the center of the imperial city which is the plaza.

And even though it got destroyed the day they left, the king and his people will not really think that it is them who did it for not once did they give the statues too much attention.

Together with the fact that the gravity used was of great precision that it only affected the statues and nothing else.

No one is capable of doing that.

"You destroyed the statues?" Aaron asked her in bewilderment.

"The moment I saw it. I don't like it. We are leaving the kingdom. How can we leave behind something that is ours?" she smiled.

"Those figures are us to begin with. Why would I let that cursed kingdom keep on gawking at it?"

Spencer laughed, "I should have known. You leaving just like that isn't like you at all."

"We were even worried when you stepped out of the palace and threw up. Who would have thought that you were planning something like that from the get go?" Aaron laughed as well.

"Well, admittedly I was really feeling sick even as I stepped inside those damn gates. They brought back unpleasant memories. Leaving was all I could think of but that retard of a king wouldn't cooperate so easily," she shrugged.

She also tossed the black orb back to Preshea, "I have deleted everything in it."

"Wha- Why?" Aaron was the one who complained since he also knew what was recorded in that black orb.

"Promise of the stars."

Aaron instantly pursed his lips after hearing it.

"In exchange, he also did so with the vow that he won't send anyone after us. Killing those who will come is tiring after all."

Aaron sighed before placing his hands behind his head, "Shall we get going then? Understanding the current time we are in?"

There is no need to comment or ask about her decision. It was obvious that what's on her mind was none other than the well-being of the five of them.

They can fight to the point of killing all those who will be sent after them but that would only aggravate their injuries. She wanted for all of them to recover instead of proving that they are strong.

"Let's go then. To the place where we had fallen into a deep slumber," Spencer followed.

He didn't need to ask her where they would be going for it was already obvious.

It was them who had seen the place and not her. Even though they already said that they didn't find anything, she wished to see things for herself.

Not because she does not trust their judgment.

But one may find clues that others can't, that is a fact for everything even in our daily life.

"It feels nostalgic somehow," Luna commented, looking around the forest in the mountain range.

It didn't change much, it remained filled with enormous trees and wildlife.

Compared to the Dark Forest, it doesn't feel dangerous, beasts rarely appear since their habitat has always been the Dark Forest and Vulpecula Dessert.

This dessert is what separates Circinus Kingdom, Dark Forest and Antlia Kingdom from the other three kingdoms in this land. The mountain range runs in parallel with Velpecula Dessert while it is perpendicular with the Dark Forest.

Just as Dark Forest has its own types of beasts, Vulpecula Dessert is the same.

And somehow, the mountain range is what allowed Circinus Kingdom and Antlia Kingdom to only worry about the beasts in the Dark Forest. It has this strange feeling that it acts like a barrier towards the two locations where different types of beasts reside. This is also the reason why beasts rarely appear in this mountain range.

"This mountain range is truly weird," Luna commented after feeling the nostalgia of walking along it again.

"Beasts rarely appear but a demon actually appeared in the middle of it," she added.

"Indeed, it was as if it was stopping beasts from running rampant on either side of it but a demon actually appeared," Spencer replied.

He has the same thoughts as her when they were trying to investigate what happened to them.

"But I think we would have had even more difficulties in defeating that demon if it didn't appear here," Preshea stated.

"As you have said, beasts rarely appear here and those that appear are either weak as compared to its usual strength or it is already on the brink of death," she added while rubbing her chin.

"You are not wrong about that. Then the demon we have defeated must have been weakened a lot by this mountain range. If not, then with just as five, we would really be dead instead of this weird phenomenon that happened to us," Luna agreed.

"Maybe checking on the history of this place would give us a clue of what had happened here," Spencer followed up.

"We are getting somewhere here," Luna happily said.

It didn't take long before they reached the peak where they had the battle and ended up sleeping for a thousand years.

"We woke up in an underground place. It seems that the explosion caused the place to cave in and we were buried underneath. Luckily the big rocks stopped everything from completely burying us," Spencer informed her.

She looked at the place, squatted to check the soil and the remnants.

"After coming out, everything was completely buried in," Aaron pointed at the spot where they came out.

Luna raised her hand and the earth underneath moved along with her hand. It floated up, Luna jumped down to check on it.

A slight frown appeared on her face.
