Faye let out her breath. She hadn't realized she was holding it. She felt her body relax a little. Still, the image of the knight's imposing figure stayed with her, and she couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled in her stomach.
The knight swung around and lifted his visor. His red eyes blazed into Faye's tiny blue ones. She saw the corner of his eyes crinkle as he sneered beneath the helmet. Then she heard his dark voice that chuckled and dripped in heated sarcasm.
"What do we have here? Come closer, little one, so I can get a better look at you, my pretty meadow butterfly."

Andre's peaceful slumber was abruptly shattered as he was jarred awake in the rocking carriage by Faye's screams and frantic movements. He observed her scramble up from the seat, her efforts to get away from the invisible dream creating a flurry of motion.
