Chapter 2 - Had once felt like home!

Liu Duoduo's heart fluttered as she stepped into the room. It was, without a doubt, the most exquisite room she had ever laid eyes on.

However, despite the grandeur, she couldn't shake off her discomfort. Luxurious living was not unfamiliar to her but this was on a whole new level, she made a silent vow to herself to become the best caretaker for her master.

"Master, I am determined to be the best caretaker you've ever hired. I will attend to your every need to the best of my abilities.."she declared earnestly.

The man's lips curled into a mischievous smirk as he slowly approached her, each step filled with intrigue.

"Attend to all my needs, you say..." he mused, his voice dripping with a hint of playfulness.

Leaning in closer, he gently rested his head on her neck, inhaling her scent. Liu Duoduo's fragrance was a delightful blend of fresh strawberries and a sprinkle of love. The man couldn't help but chuckle at the intriguing aroma that enveloped her.

What an interesting creature.

"I will do my best to..." she hinged back whispering, her head lowered to hide the blush that crept across her cheeks.

The man chuckled, taking a step back. He found her adorable, she was his perfect diversion. This should keep him entertained for a while, he thought to himself.

"Make yourself at home," he said, walking past her and out the door. He paused, turning back to look at the dazed girl. "By the way, my name is Mu Yichen. But you're welcome to call me master if you prefer."

Mu Yichen... his name rolled off her tongue in a soft hum, just as captivating as he was.

After he left, Liu Duoduo stood alone on the second floor, fanning her flushed face. She walked towards the luxurious bed.

She let out a low scream, marveling at the luxury of the room. It was the best decision she had made all year.

And so, Mu Yichen and Liu Duoduo grew closer with each passing day. The servants observed their master gradually becoming more optimistic about life.

Every day, Liu Duoduo would dutifully administer Mu Yichen's medicine, help him choose his clothes, and encourage him to have breakfast. Thanks to Liu Duoduo's influence, the man who once wore dark and dull colors began to embrace brighter and more vibrant colors.

His employees were taken aback, while his servants were overjoyed, all because of the presence of Liu Duoduo in the mansion. No one was happier than Butler Chen, who had personally witnessed Mu Yichen grow up from childhood to adulthood. Even Mu Yichen's own mother couldn't bring about such a change, yet a young girl like Liu Duoduo actually managed to break through Mu Yichen barriers.

However, this joyous moments were short-lived. One night, Mu Yichen returned to the mansion heavily intoxicated, somehow he managed to evade Butler Chen and the other servants, eventually finding his way to Liu Duoduo's room.

Startled, Lin Duoduo woke up as a warm body pressed against hers. "Master!" she called out softly, but Mu Yichen seemed oblivious to her words. The man kissed her with an intensity that filled her with fear and anxiety. Did he truly intend to be intimate with her? Liu Duoduo bit her lip. Over the past months, she had realized that she had fallen deeply in love with this man, but she had kept her feelings hidden, unwilling to risk her job, especially after he had once told her, "Never fall in love with me."

Perhaps, at that moment he already knew she was in love with him.

"Master, we can't do this..." Liu Duoduo gasped as she felt the man's cold lips on her neck, then moving down to her chest, and lower still.

"Duoduo, you have to help me," he pleaded, his expression filled with pain. Overwhelmed, she stopped resisting and allowed him to do as he pleased.

That night, she experienced a mixture of pleasure and pain. Mu Yichen was rough, and she found herself crying out and begging for mercy.

Finally, the man stopped and rolled to the other side, exhausted. Lin Duoduo shivered, hugging her knees tightly. She loved him, but the pain she had just endured was almost unbearable.

After a while, the room fell into silence, accompanied by the soft sound of two quiet snores. The long battle was finally over.

The next morning, Lin Duoduo woke up to find Mu Yichen standing in front of her, holding what appeared to be a cheque in his hands.

"Master..." she muttered weakly, attempting to sit up, but he gently stopped her and pressed her shoulders back to the bed.

"Here for all your troubles, you don't have to work for me anymore," Mu Yichen said, handing a cheque to Liu Duoduo. He took a step back, and a cold expression washed over the Liu Duoduo's as two lone tear drops rolled down her cheeks.

This wasn't supposed to happen, he wasn't supposed to get this attached, a man like him his world was guns and bullets for sure a fragile looking girl like Liu Duoduo she wouldn't be safe.

"Master, I don't want your money. I'm already grateful that you let me work for you these past two months.." Liu Duoduo replied, her voice filled with gratitude. She tore up the check, letting the pieces fall softly to the ground.

What saddened her the most was the realization that he had given her money because of what had happened between them. She could leave, but she didn't want his money.

Just how naive had she been.

Mu Yichen gazed at her face and gently pulled her into his embrace how he wished he had enough resources to protect her he would have definitely not let her go. "Thank you for staying. It was probably the best time of my life," he murmured, standing up and leaving. Liu Duoduo watched him as he walked away, knowing that this was the last time she would see him up close.

She closed her eyes and buried her face in her pillow, sobbing lightly. After about an hour, she stopped crying and dragged her tired body to the bathroom. Sitting at the dresser, she used concealer to cover the hickeys and bite marks that scattered all over her body. She wished she could conceal the pain in her heart, making it disappear as if it had never happened.

With each cloth she placed in the suitcase, a tear ran down her face. At some point, she had managed to pack all her things and went downstairs with the brightest smile she could muster.

She didn't want Butler Chen to pity or feel sorry for her, so she tried her best to act like nothing had happened. However, Butler Chen looked at Liu Duoduo with a solemn expression and sighed. He wished she could stay longer, but the master had decided he wanted nothing to do with the young miss anymore.

"Miss Duoduo, thank you for the time you've spent with us. I will really miss you. The mansion won't feel the same without you," Butler Chen said.

Liu Duoduo nodded, biting her lips forcefully to stop herself from crying. Her hand tightened around her suitcase as she silently left the house.

At one point, she turned back to look at the mansion. This place had truly felt like home.

She hailed a taxi and slowly watched the mansion grow farther and farther from her vision. The tears she had been holding for so long finally broke out as she hugged her knees and cried bitterly. The driver felt pity for her and tried his best to console her. He also had a daughter her age.

As the taxi drew farther and farther away, Mu Yichen finally left the window, he opened the wine and sipped it slowly.

Why did the good things in his life never last long.

The taxi driver carried her all the way to her university and even up to her hostel. Liu Duoduo smiled. She really couldn't thank him enough.
