"I'm s..o.r.ry, R.ina," Victor's voice trembled as he whispered, his gaze fixed on Rina, who was slowly regaining her breath, still unable to believe the physical pain she had just endured.
It was the first time Victor had ever hurt her in such a way, a stark departure from the protector he had always been since their childhood, someone who never allowed harm to come her way.
"I'm s.or..ry," Victor repeated, still unable to meet Rina's eyes, his own gaze cast down in shame.
"W..hy?" Her eyes fixed directly on him, softly questioned him.
"I do.. n't know." Victor struggled to respond, his voice barely audible as he mumbled.
A deep sigh escaped Rina's lips as she continued to study Victor, her gaze shifting away from him intermittently.
Rina's voice quivered as she asked, her gaze still averted from Victor, her hand still clutching her neck where she could still feel the lingering pressure from his grip moments ago.
