"Go meet Helena, so she can treat your leg." Ryder ordered Jayden as soon as they got inside.
One look at Ryder's face, Jayden knew better than to protest, he hobbled on his one good leg to meet Helena.
"Evena, you can sleep in my room tonight. I don't think there are any spare rooms." Ryder told Evena.
"Sure, good night." Evena left immediately. He had no desire to be in between Ryder and Lavender at this moment.
It was just Ryder and Lavender left. "Your room is probably dusty, you will sleep with Evena tonight in my room and clean your room tomorrow." Ryder told him.
"But I...."
A glare from Ryder silenced him immediately.
"Yes Alpha." he said resentfully and went upstairs to Ryder's room.
Ryder sighed and collapsed on the sofa, tonight had been one hectic night.
First, he had to lead the hunt then Ava had gotten attacked. He had brought out the shadow wolves and had to call them back because it turned out his long lost brother was hiding out in the forest.
Ryder closed his eyes and thought about Lavender.
Lavender was his younger brother, he was born a year before Lily. He and Lily could be mistaken for twins because of the little age gap and how similar they looked.
After the death of his parents, Ryder had taken care of the both of them. Although he had to admit that he was a bit partial towards Lily since she was the youngest and the only girl.
As the both of them grew up, they constantly fought and quarreled. Ryder always tried to be impartial when judging their fights but it was hard for him not to be biased to Lily. He often scolded Lavender for fighting with his younger sister.
After Lavender's wolf emerged, he became even more hot tempered. Ryder was always settling them, it frustrated him to no end.
One day in an argument, Lavender had shifted and attacked Lily. Lily had almost died from that attack since she hadn't yet shifted and was defenceless.
Ryder had been so furious with Lavender who kept insisting that he was innocent, it wasn't his intention to shift and attack her. Ryder didn't believe a word that he said and thought that he was only making excuses.
Eventually Lavender couldn't stand Ryder's attitude and he had run away from home or so Ryder had thought.
Right now he didn't even know what to feel, happiness that he had found his brother or sadness that Jayden, his best friend and beta wolf had lied to him all these years.
He decided to stop thinking and go check on Ava.
He went to Ava's room and saw Helena sitting at her bedside and dabbing her head with a wet towel.
"How is she?" he asked.
"She is healing at a very fast rate, she should be feeling a little better by morning." Helena said.
"And Jayden?"
"He is fine, I massaged his foot and gave him some medicine."
"Good. Thanks for your help Helena."
Helena looked at Ryder and felt guilty.
"Ryder, I am sorry for not telling you about Lavender."
"Its okay Helena, I am not angry with you. Why don't you get some rest and I will look after Ava" Ryder replied.
"Are you sure?" Helena asked doubtfully.
"Yes, you should go and have some rest, if anything is wrong, I will come get you."
Helena passed him the towel, she then kissed Ava's forehead before and stood up, she handed the towel to Ryder.
"if there is anything wrong, call me immediately."
"Yes Helena." Ryder said.
Helena left the room and Ryder sat down beside Ava and continued using the towel on her forehead.
Ava had been so brave, he thought to himself, if she hadn't been so brave, the children would have been taken away by the rogues.
The whole pack owed her for her efforts in saving the children.
......
Lavender lay beside Evena on the bed quietly so he wouldn't wake up. His efforts were in vain because Evena was a light sleeper and he had woken up immediately Lavender opened the door.
"Welcome back." Evena told him.
"against my wish." Lavender replied.
"Come on, it isn't that bad"
"It is, my life was much better when I stayed alone now I am back to Ryder and his hateful comments and glares. At least Lily is no longer here."
"He missed you when you left." Evena told him.
Lavender scoffed at this, "I doubt that."
"He did, he searched everywhere for you. He even called me to do a soul search. He just didn't know you were still in the pack."
"You said he called you to do a soul search?"
"Yes he did."
"Then you knew I was still in the pack?"
"Yes I did."
"Why didn't you tell him?"
"I figured you had your own reasons for hiding out there, Jayden also pleaded with me not to tell him. So I lied to him that I couldn't find you, he is going to be so upset at me."
"Thanks Evena."
"You are welcome, you shouldn't be so hard on him. He loves you and cares for you, he just babies Lily because of the circumstances of her birth and the fact that she is a girl and the youngest."
"Yes I know all that, but maybe he needs to remember that I am only a year older than Lily and I also lost my mother. Why does she get to be babied and I don't? I kept telling him that I didn't shift, something forced my wolf out of me but he never listened to me." Lavender said bitterly.
"Well that's all in the past, you are back now and I wish you two build up your relationship again." Evena told him.
"I don't think that will ever happen, I don't think we will ever move past from this."
"Lavender....."
"Good night Evena." Lavender said firmly.
Evena sighed, Lavender and Ryder had to be the most stubborn people he had ever met. He covered himself up with his blanket and slept off.
