Isabelle blinked owlishly at Lyov, not fully processing what he'd told her. "Family...?" She echoed slowly.
He nodded and explained further, "My family. The Perlmann house will be arriving at the palace to attend the wedding."
She pursed her lips. "Do you...not get on with your family?"
He sighed. "It's hardly me that is the problem...."
He shook his head and crossed his arms, sitting back in his char, pressing his lips together in annoyance.
"They have...always hated that I became a knight. For a powerful and ancient noble family like mine....my father saw it as beneath me, sullying my name with the dirt and mud to become a lowly knight. When i refused to pursue things more to my 'qualifications, he cut off contact...."
He rolled his eyes.
Isabelle inhaled sharply.
She'd of course never actually asked Lyov about his family, and rarely asked about his past.
