Octavian settled the kitten into her arms.
Snowball looked up at her like a scolded child. His pretty white coat was covered in mud. Bits of leaves and twigs were stuck in his fur.
One ear drooped slightly askew from his little head. He stared mournfully into her eyes, silently pleading for her mercy.
For a moment Isabelle paused to regard him. Snowball's blue eyes glimmered in the dim candlelight of the chamber.
The small cat seemed almost afraid of her as he glanced around nervously. The little rascal had been spooked while he explored the garden and ran off.
After a bit of panicking by Isabelle, Octavian - who'd been in the area - appeared and swooped in to find the little kitten. Although it hadn't been immediate...he'd returned successful.
Her lip wobbled now that she held her little kitten safe and sound. He was dirty. He was frightened. But he was fine.
