Octavian returned late in the evening.
"Sorry for taking so long, but father wished to keep us informed with every development." Octavian nodded to each of them as he entered the room.
He looked exhausted.
She immediately patted the empty space next to her in the bed. "Why don't you relax, first...then tell us."
"Tell us, how was the investigation?" Phoenix asked, keeping his tone gentle.
The prince let out a little sigh. "Perhaps as well as a first day of investigation can go when the scene of the crime was already ruined by the incompetent princess who found it."
Alexander cleared his throat. "Meaning?"
"There is no obvious sign of what poison was used on the king, or even how it was administered." Octavian shook his head.
