Chapter 23 - Not A Threat

I walked into German a few minutes late, not caring about the glare sent my way by the teacher.

We both knew that I was better than her, I had 'accidentally' corrected her a few times when her grammar and spelling had a mistake in them.

I am sure that I would live to regret it once the exams came around and she had complete control over my marks. But I would hold her accountable if she fucked with them.

Apparently, the name 'Song' opened more than a few doors for me.

I wouldn't let a pissed off teacher prevent me from entering Med school over a German mark.

"So kind for you to join us. What? Did Bai Long Qiang's body not hold your interest for long? It must be because you are so young." There was a snide voice behind me, whispering words in my ear. What? Was she hoping for some sort of reaction?

"You just wish you were in my place," I said, turning around so she could see the satisfied smirk on my face. At 15, he was a little too young for me to be panting over him, but I could acknowledge that he was an impressive specimen.

The girl, one of Ye Mai Hui's friends, opened and closed her mouth a few times, looking very much like a fish out of water.

"Did you know that the average person swallows eight spiders a year when they are sleeping? If you don't hurry up and close your mouth, one might just crawl in now." I couldn't stop myself from laughing as the audible click of teeth crashing together let me know that the girl had finally closed her mouth.

It is an urban legend that you swallow spiders in your sleep. For the most part, they don't like the moist, damp air of your mouth to want to crawl in.

But it is still fun fucking with people's minds like that.

I turned back around and concentrated on the work in front of me. Thanks to my backpack getting an unexpected shower, all of the handwritten assignments were ruined, and I needed to redo them.

Math wouldn't take me that long, but the two labs in biology and chemistry would take a while. Not to mention, I was hating grade ten chem with a passion.

I got lost in my work until the bell rang, and I quickly packed up, getting ready to go to my next class.

"He hates you, you know," hissed a voice, pulling me into an empty classroom. Whoever it was had clamped down on my mouth, preventing me from screaming.

But her skin smelled like lilies… had to be a female. It was soft, but I would expect nothing less from the spoiled brats that attended this school. They wouldn't know a hard day's work if it knocked them upside the head.

I was spun around to face my attacker, and the hand left my mouth.

Stupid move. If you were going to try and take someone, it was important to keep control at all times.

I wiped my mouth with the back of my hand and spat out the lotion. Disgusting.

"I am afraid you are going to have to elaborate," I said with a smile as I looked up at Ye Mei Hui. She couldn't be feeling too confident if she was resorting to this type of scare tactic.

"Bai Long Qiang. He hates you. He is only looking after you because his grandfather asked him to," she said with a sneer. I nodded my head at her words. It wouldn't surprise me if he were looking after me simply because Grandfather asked his grandfather for a favor.

But you would think that she knew him well enough to know he wouldn't do it if he hated it.

Nor would his grandfather expect him to.

Nah, this girl was trying to get under my skin. And it might have worked if I had fallen for it.

"I thought you weren't interested in him anymore. In fact, I think you even went as far as to call him a pedophile. Not something someone would say if they were in love with a guy. No, I think you are nothing more than a scared little girl trying to frantically grip onto a dream."

I would like to say that I felt bad for her. She was in a difficult time in her life when her hormones were starting to take control, and everything was different. Hell, she might have even had a crush on him for years, only to find out that her hold wasn't as strong as she thought it was.

Yes, I was sure that adolescence was a hard time in anyone's life… but that didn't mean I would let her take it out on me.

"We are engaged," she said, her head held up high. "We are getting married after he completes basic training."

"I see," I nodded. Maybe I should get a dual degree in both medicine and psychology. There seemed to be a lot of people that were sick in the head. "Have you told him that?"

"It's not for him to refuse. The elders in our family are going to be deciding it," she snapped, showing the first chink in her armor.

"Oh, so this is something you have decided and are trying to get your elders to back you up on. Well, best of luck to you." I shrugged my shoulders just as the late bell rang.

Fuck, I was going to be late for biology, and something told me that Bai Long Qiang was going to have kittens if that happened.

"Gotta go," I said, opening the door and waving her off.

"This is my only warning," she snarled at me, but I ignored it. A woman scored and all that bullshit. What was she going to do? Drop a bucket of slime on me? She's already done that.

I paused my steps, turning around to look at her. Should I press a little button on her body and send pain shooting throughout her nervous system?

No, that was overkill. She was nothing more than a kid.

Not a threat at all.
