It was 11 AM when Alexa arrived at the office. Her lateness didn't go unnoticed by the employees who made it their business to gossip after she entered the elevator.
Arriving at her office, she was surprised to meet a mountain of files waiting for her to peruse and approve. Beside the workload was a cup of coffee. She looked up at Candice who followed behind her when she entered the office and inquired:
"When did I ask for a coffee?"
The assistant lowered her head and replied, "You didn't. I thought you would like some."
"Don't repeat this in the future."
"I'm sorry ma'am." She bowed her head even lower.
Looking at the documents, she questioned, "Why are there so many?"
"The Vice President had his assistant send them over."
