George stared at Madeline's back and asked Nurse Dalton, "Who is that girl?"
"Ah, I forgot this is only your third day in the hospital. But she is Madeline Rose. Yes, that Madeline Rose you see on TV." Nurse Dalton sighed. "Please don't disturb her or even try to insult her. She's living a hard life."
"A hard life?" George raised a question. He already knew so many things about Madeline from Lance. But he didn't expect Nurse Dalton, the strictest nurse he had ever met during a medical internship, to pity Madeline.
Nurse Dalton looked at her left and right, and after making sure that nobody else could eavesdrop, she revealed, "Madeline's mother is hospitalized here. It's been about five years since she first came to this hospital. She's suffering from lung cancer and a rapidly growing tumor."
"Five years is a long time. Is she getting better?" George muttered. "And how about the money?"
