Madeline took a deep breath as she prepared herself to find Zane's name on her contact list.
It had been a while since their last call, and it made her nervous even though Zane himself had told her that he would always help her in a dire situation.
Endless texts and phone calls barraged Madeline's phone. She put him on the 'ignored' list but didn't block him, so she could still see a small notification of his endless stream of calls.
'Ignore him for now, Maddy. At least you've given him a heads up before you called Zane, so Lance shouldn't be too angry at you,' Madeline told herself as she finally dialed Zane's number.
Madeline called two times, and both calls remained unanswered. She grew increasingly desperate and began to wonder if Zane didn't want anything to do with her anymore, and that's why he didn't pick up at all.
Fortunately, he finally picked up the call on the third.
