"In the past, the Fang family would make dumplings during the Chinese New Year. Then they would sit in front of the television and watch the Spring Festival Gala. But they did not allow me to join them."

There were no extra stools in the backyard, so the children held their bowls and ate while standing up. Their tiny faces were filled with the joy of the Chinese New Year.
