Chapter 26 - CH. 26: Already Lost That Place

"Two nights?" he asked again but this time his tone was milder.

"Yes, since it is the weekend and she had been studying all this time, it seems the young madam plans on resting with nature."

Then she stared straight in his eyes, "You have not taken notice of her whereabouts all this year. I presume you won't stop her during this time either right?"

Cyrus lowered his head, "No. She needs her rest."

Amelia sighed and was about to speak again when the door opened.

Maya came in with shopping bags in her hands, and was even looking at her phone like the owner of the house who didn't care about anything.

"Who are you?"

Her movements stopped when a cold voice was suddenly heard.

When she looked up, she was shock to see Cyrus in the villa.

"Y- Young master?"

"I was asking who are you?"

"I... I..."

Maya stammered, she didn't know what to do and tried to hide the bags behind her instead.

She didn't know he was here. It was fine if it was just Amelia who was present.

Because Heather was well aware of Maya's true purpose in being here, she knew Heather wouldn't care.

She can simply listen to Amelia's nagging because surely the madam, which is Amanda, will not listen and will let her stay no matter what.

But to be caught by the young master himself.

"She is the newly appointed maid by the madam. But she does as she pleases simply because the young madam was not taking issues with her."

Seeing that Cyrus was being cold, Amelia knew he was not aware of this maid being here.

Then that is good, she could complain.

Her having some help was good but if the help only knows how to disrespect then Amelia didn't need her.

Cyrus frowned, his mother putting this kind of person here only means that she was placed here to watch Heather.

He was not so stupid as to not see the reason why his mother appointed Heather as his wife back then. And seeing the changes in her attitude, he knew she must have misjudged but not wanting him to be with Susan, she didn't approve of his wish to divorce Heather.

Right now, the changes in Heather was sudden to the point that she felt the need to watch her closely.

But he had just heard Amelia's words and his heart was just hit hard, and so anger rose inside him seeing the nonchalant look of this maid when her master had fallen sick.

"I didn't see you yesterday," he started.

"I... I was... I was actually cleaning up at the back, young master."

Cyrus squinted his eyes.

"Cleaning up at the back?"

"Y- Yes."

"How long had you been cleaning at the back?"

"A- About an hour or so, I had to make sure that everything was clean so I didn't realize that the young master had come back."

Hearing him say about yesterday, Maya understood that the young master had returned the day before.

"And, when the rain started what had you been doing?"

Since Amelia didn't see her, she simply stayed quiet.

"I returned to my room since I was also drenched by the rain that suddenly poured when I was cleaning the pool."

"Hmmm."

Maya heaved a sigh of relief seeing as he believed her.

"And where did you go for you to return now?"

"Today was my day off so just as the day breaks, I have decided to treat myself a bit. Staying during lunch hour outside was something I didn't like, so leaving early had always been my choice."

Amelia knew from her answers that Maya had not been around since yesterday.

She didn't know if Maya did clean but she knew that Maya would have appeared when Cyrus returned if she really was here.

"It seems that you cleaned and dried yourself for too long for you not to realize what had been going on yesterday."

Maya looked up when Cyrus spoke again.

His eyes was nothing but coldness and she couldn't help but shudder.

"No sir, I-"

"The young madam had fallen sick, yet here you are happily shopping. She was sick since yesterday afternoon, yet you didn't even know."

Maya pursed her lips, she knew that Heather was drenched and left when she heard Amelia waking Heather up.

Why would she help an enemy?

Plus Heather knew why she was here, why would she act?

But if she knew that Cyrus would be here yesterday then she would have acted.

"And it seems that you are quite adept at lying. Seeing as I had been here since yesterday and I didn't even see a shadow of you. Quite a servant you are."

Maya was even more shock.

Wasn't it a known fact that the young master does not stay in the villa for the night?

Why would he suddenly stay this time?

"My mom, tasked you here but it seems you are not doing your work properly. I guess you are no longer needed."

Cyrus knew she was here to watch Heather but this blatant attitude is something he didn't like one bit.

"S- Sir..."

Maya rushed forward dropping all her shopping bags and knelt in front of Cyrus.

"I was wrong, I was really wrong. Please give me one more chance."

Cyrus raised an eyebrow.

He can see from the fear that this person has in her eyes that if she were to leave this place then she is doomed.

But why would he care?

His mother gave this person a task, indeed it was something detrimental for Heather but she was still given a task.

In the end, she didn't follow it. Doesn't that mean, she was also not following his mother properly?

"You confidently entered this place as if this is your own. Your attitude alone shows that you don't deserve a chance at all. Throw this person out."

Who knows where, but two men in black appeared and dragged Maya out of the place.

"NO SIR PLEASE!!! PLEASE DON'T THROW ME OUT!!!"

Maya knew her outcome after this, she is doomed. She will be killed.

The madam tasked her to watch Heather and Heather staying obediently at home caused her to be negligent to the point that it was Cyrus who found out about it.

"Have Ravier drive you to buy the things she needed. If she does not reject let him drive her to the mountain as well."

No longer paying Maya any attention, he turned to Amelia and spoke.

After that he finally left the house.

"Stay here with them," he tasked Ravier.

Ravier was a fifty year old man who had been driving for him since he was a child.

Just like Amelia, he was one of those who watched him grow before he left for America.

One of those who was not under Amanda.

He wasn't simply a driver but could be a butler as well.

An all rounder person under Cyrus.

He was called last night from the main house where Amanda resides to come here.

"I understand young master."

After nodding, Cyrus rode his car and left that place to go to work.

After what happened last night, he ended up finding himself waiting for Heather to wake up and knowing how she was.

It must have been the guilt of leaving her on her own but he just did it.

"Sir."

Upon arriving at around ten, Raven his current secretary, approached him.

"What's my schedule for today?" he asked.

"You have a meeting in the afternoon at 1 pm and the meeting from yesterday was moved to today at 3 in the afternoon. Then you have an online meeting with our partners abroad at 7 in the evening."

Cyrsu nodded his head, "I understand."

"Sir, you..."

"I was back at the villa, something happened and I ended up being unable to leave."

Raven's eyes shifted upon hearing this, he knew there was only one person in the villa other than Amelia.

But Cyrus never returns and stays in the villa if Amelia was sick or something.

Then it must be the other person.

"Raven..."

He snapped out of his thoughts when Cyrus called him.

"Yes young master?"

"What is home?"

Raven was taken aback.

Cyrus was the same, he didn't mean to ask that. He must really be hit too hard by Amelia's words this morning.

"No... you don't have to answer."

"Sir," Raven spoke up.

Cyrus looked at him.

"For me, a home is not only a place. It is not about where your family lives. It is where your family IS. The people you love and care for. A place where the people you want to return to is at. As for you young master, I think the home is where your beloved is."

Cyrus knew all those around him sees that he respects and follows his mother but after being apart for so long and after his mother continued tasking him things, everything ended with respect alone.

That is their current relationship.

He does not follow her because he loves her but because he respects her too much.

"Where ... my beloved is, you say."

Susan's smiling gentle face appeared in his mind.

The warm feeling in his heart made him know that Raven was right.

He smiled bitterly, "Then I guess I already lost that place."

Then Heather's crying face appeared next.

"And I made someone else lose it as well."

Raven watched him for a bit before retreating.

It seems that Cyrus was in a state of confusion that he asked such question.

Raven just couldn't help but to answer him, seeing how lonely his look is.

As lonely as the one he saw in the past.
