Chapter 31 - CH. 31: Was The Door Instead

Before their breakfast, the elderly couple returned.

All four brothers have lined up and behind them stood Heather.

"Oh my what a wonderful surprise, to see you four here," their grandmother exclaimed.

She was Trina Relish, in her early seventies yet still looks like she was in her fifties.

Beside her was a serious looking old man, the one who called Heather princess in her dream, Logan Relish, the one who expanded the Relish Winery into different heights.

His dark gray eyes were the complete replica of the other five Relish men.

The trademark of the Relish bloodline.

It was usually dark gray eyes for the descendants but the ancestors have the usual gray ones, the same color that became pronounced in Heather's pair of beautiful eyes.

Seeing their look, instead of reacting the may Trina had, Logan furrowed his brows.

As an old business man, he can see when there is a different meaning in the actions of the people around him, more so when it is these brats of them.

"What mistakes have you done this time?" he asked seriously.

"Grandfather, can't we visit just simply because we wanted to visit?" Aldger complained.

"That's right, we didn't do anything, we just missed you guys," Dexter followed.

Alexander and Hunter rolled their eyes.

Logan raised an eyebrow when he noticed a person behind these big men.

"Step aside," he instructed them.

They slowly moved to the side.

Standing in front of Heather was Aldger and Dexter's idea, that they can just move aside and say surprise once their grandparents have entered. But Logan's serious look made them unable to do what was planned.

Though Alexander and Hunter already knew they won't be able to do it.

After all, Logan's piercing eyes were enough to make them unable to move despite not doing anything wrong.

Logan ended up having a serious poker face, where no one would be able to read what he was thinking or feeling.

Trina was the one who gasped upon seeing the familiar face of her grand daughter.

It was not the one she had been seeing in the internet.

Heather looked at them and very slowly smiled.

"Hi."

Logan looked away and moved to step and was prepared to walk past her.

*BLAG*

"Hea-"

"Sweetheart!!"

"Oh dear!!"

Logan stopped from walking past her when Heather suddenly fell to her knees, making the rest both shock and worried because the way she did it will surely cause bruises on her fair knees.

"I'm sorry grandfather. I was an unfilial child and all I do was hurt all of you but right at this moment I am begging you to give me a chance. A chance to prove myself as a Relish once again."

Everyone was shock but they can see determination in her eyes and could tell that she knew this will happen and had planned on apologizing in such a way from the get go.

But as compare to others who uses their tears to gain sympathy, Heather didn't shed a single tear and simply knelt and looked at Logan.

Heather saw that his jaws were clenched though slightly that others wouldn't have noticed it.

Then without saying another word, he walked passed her.

Heather bit her lower lip when Trina rushed to her and helped her up.

"This child, you were gone for so long and now you act this way. How can you not think of the consequence of using such force in kneeling?" she worriedly said.

But since Heather was wearing pants, she has no chance of checking her knees.

Heather smiled before hugging her mother tightly, "I miss you grandma. Your unfilial grand child has returned."

"Are you really coming back for real now?" Trina asked as she returned the hug, she even wiped the tears that fell from her eyes.

Heather slowly shook her head with a smile as she pulled back.

"Not completely but surely I will come back."

Trina was not a business woman of some sort but she understood what Heather was trying to say.

"You still have something to do?"

Heather nodded her head, "Yes, something I really needed to do."

"Then do it. I'm just happy that you are alive and filled with energy. That on itself is more than enough for me."

Heather was feeling grateful that Trina was not asking more questions. That she simply trusted her.

"I love you grandma, I really really wanted to say that," she then said.

"Oh my dear child. I love you so much. I only wish for all of you to be able to live happily, so don't punish yourself too much for your weakness. Because no one is blaming you for having such. Especially when I can see that have overcome so much."

Trina stared straight in Heather's eyes and she could see that Heather's eyes were very much different from all the pictures she had seen.

It is indeed the truth that not everything could be seen in a picture but the eyes showed so much that it can surpass the restrictions a picture has.

"And know that your grandfather thinks the same way. He was simply mad, but surely he'll be fine in a few more days. At least just try to contact him more."

With only a few words from Heather, Trina understood that she was not planning on coming out yet as a not disowned daughter but she has no desire to stay away from her family either.

She was a smart woman that could read things in between the lines.

Talking with her makes the children have the comfort of going on and on without worrying whether the other person understand them or not.

"Don't worry grandma, I understand very well... Very... Very well..."

She can clearly remember everything that happened in the dream.

How Logan came out of retirement just to support Ardel in their journey for revenge towards the Porter family whom they deemed as the reason for all of Heather's suffering and death.

She could clearly remember that he had wept so much when she was being buried.

How he went to her grave every single month until his death and cried and apologized that he was unable to do anything for her.

She could clearly remember how much Logan pulled his already weakened and sick body to work just so they would be able to get their revenge.

And she could clearly remember that on his deathbed, Logan had apologized to her until his very last breath.

"My whole family loves me so much that all they wanted was the best for me. Yet I chose such a thorny path, a bumpy road. But I also know that even though I had disappointed them and I hurt them, not once did they stopped loving me."

Trina smiled happily followed by the rest.

"You must have been through so much for you to speak of such words."

"Yet I am better now, stronger and I know things will be better as well. Still thorny and bumpy but surely a better end is out there."

Her answer to her grandmother made even her father nod in approval.

"Anyway, I'll go and kneel in front of grandfather now."

Before anyone could stop her, she already went to the study that was located at the attic. She noticed that Logan went to the elevator a while ago and the sign showed that he went up there.

"No one follows," she looked back with a bright smile.

"I will make sure that by the time we come down, grandfather will dote on me more than you brothers."

After that, instead of riding the elevator she went to the stairs and run up.

"Oh that child, as mischievous as ever," Trina laughed.

"But her smile was the brightest still," Michelle commented after.

"I'll kneel here until you are willing to talk to me again grandfather," Heather started after knocking on the door.

'Though please open before my short vacation ends,' she added in her mind while also sticking out her tongue in her head.

She can't possibly kneel until the weekend next week right?

"..."

Silence followed her words but she was not yet in a rush, she just smiled and knelt there and waited.

She waited and waited...

Waited and waited...

Seconds ticked by.

Minutes followed.

Then an hour passed...

And another...

And another...

*Rumble*

She rubbed her stomach when she felt her hunger.

Her knees were seriously aching as well.

But she was determined to make use of her grandfather's love to open the door and stop her from opening.

Soon she had been kneeling for five hours.

*Rumble*

Heather puffed her cheeks.

*Rumble*

'You will surely get hungry as well,' she thought with a pout.

Since she stood guard here when they just arrived, surely Logan may have had his breakfast but he wouldn't have his lunch, right?

'Could it be that there was a secret door in our house?' she thought ignoring her stomach completely.

She was no longer shock at how long Logan was ignoring her because in the end, to whom did she get her stubborn personality?

*Rumble*

She glared at her stomach.

'I know you are there you don't need to make yourself known.'

*CREAK*

A lightbulb lit up inside her head when she realized that the sound effect this time was no longer her stomach but was the door instead.

"Get in."

His grumpy voice came and she broke into a bright smile.

She hurriedly stood up, ignoring the numbness and pain in her legs and knees.

Her goal was met, she can't fall now can she?
