Chapter 32 - CH. 32: We're You Always This Smart?

Despite getting inside the atmosphere between them was nothing but silence.

Logan was facing the window that also overlooks the plantation.

Heather had her head lowered as stood behind him waiting for what he has to say.

'Every single time this is the most nerve racking moment in my twenty plus years of living,' she thought as she played with her fingers.

Their parents would get mad at them and all but the doting was still visible that all five of them were not as nervous or anything.

But their grandfather was different, when his mad, one will be subconsciously submissive and would be attentive. It wasn't the scary one but you would be nervous.

How will it go?

What stern lecture will I hear?

Will it hit straight in the heart again?

Logan had always been stern to his childrena dn grandchildren. He never hit them but instead his words hits harder. You'll just find yoursef crying from realizing what your mistakes are.

"Do you know why I started to expand the winery when I became the CEO?"

Finally after who knows how long, Logan spoke with his back facing her.

"..."

"It is not to allow my children and grandchildren and even my great grand children to suffer no matter how long. I wanted to make the winery as prosperous as possible so that even if they are to meet some set back they will be fine. They will have some leeway in getting back up on their feet."

She heard him sigh before he finally faced her.

"Yet here you are. Just as you entered your teenage years, I found you crying and almost losing all purpose in your life. I would have sent you overseas but you chose to have the public think that you are disowned. Did you hate the family that much?"

Heather shook her head but remained not saying anything.

"You suffered and then disappeared for who knows where. And since there was no news of you dying or that you have not returned crying, I though you were doing great and felt that maybe this is your path. Yet a news came that you were married because you ended up getting drunk and... and..."

Logan huffed and he looked like he was having difficulties breathing.

So he stopped talking and got himself a glass of water. he calmed himself down before looking back at her.

"Both times you were called names, looked down upon, criticized. A princess like you being called unfit to be his wife?!? They are indeed high above but our winery does not lose out at all. How can all those people call you such?"

Heather pursed her lips.

"The first time, I was able to accept it because you never called to say that you can't go on but this time... was it really worth it?"

Heather bit her lower lip adn finally looked straight in his eyes.

"Yes."

Logan was shock at the determined answer she gave together with how fast she had replied.

"The first time was worth it because I get to leard more about life. I get to see the world on a different horizon. A different perspective, I'd surely not see if I remained in our family."

Logan couldn't help but sigh.

That was indeed the truth, even though one was rich that they wouldn't have to worry about living their lives without doing too much, it still entails negative things.

Such as betrayals and deceit.

Being showered by love all her life, Heather was harshly made to realize the reality of the world.

"And..."

She smiled, "It is worth it to get entangled with him because I am doing my best at this moment to fulfill a vow I rarely do towards others."

Logan has nothing to say about this part, because when it comes to stubbornness, Heather was the most stuborn on her promises.

"Really your stubbornness is..."

"Something I got from you grandpa," she continued.

"Hmmmp," he harrumphed but the grumpy look and the pain look were both gone from his face.

"I was stubborn but I am also selfish, still I really am blessed that I have such a loving family that no matter how selfish I am they were always there behind my back. Ready to support me once I ask for it."

Logan sighed again, "Come here."

He raised a hand and Heather happily run to hug him.

"This child... Just ask and we will support you," he said rubbing her hair with his hand.

Heather nodded and rubbed his face in his chest.

"And... For you to come in such a discrete way," he said as he let her go.

Heather grinned.

"Don't grin like that, there was even this."

He raised his phone to show a post from her account about staying in the mountains for the night.

Heather gasped and clapped her hands, "You were following me grandpa- Aww."

He hit her head with his knuckle, "That is not the point."

"That is the point," she argued still.

"It is not."

"It is, I mean not a lot of people are being followed by the king of winery in the country," she continued.

Logan ended up having a smug look after hearing her words.

It was not an exaggeration to say that he was the king because despite inheriting the company at its peak, Logan was able to exapnd it more and more all over the country during the twenty years of his reign.

"Wait, you changing the topic," he realized and returned to his stern look.

Heather giggled, "Well... I-"

*RUMBLEEEEEEEEEEEE*

Both of them were dumbfounded when her stomach suddenly made its existence known.

And the way it rumbled was far louder and longer than the one when she was kneeling outside the door.

"Can we eat first? I actually haven't had my breakfast yet," she asked with a laugh.

Logan shook his head before he started walking out of the spacious study room.

Heather happily followed as she wrapped her arms around his, both of them rode the elevator and went down to the first floor.

There waits the whole family with food prepared.

The first family lunch they had after so long was filled with nothing but laughter and teasing.

A moment that will be etched in Heather's mind forever.

Soon, Aldger, Noah and Logan returned to the study when Aldger spoke about needing some help on something.

Heather had a fun time talking with her mother and grandmother but also followed the three after a while.

She brought up coffee and some refreshments.

*knock knock*

When she heard no reply, she went in to see them gathering around the table and discussing something very seriously.

She walked over and placed the tray on the side before peeping at what they were talking about.

It was plans regarding expanding their wines overseas.

"I am thinking of buying this lands, I've checked and they were already fertile enough. The procedures would take a while but I can see it plausible for us to buy it and start our plantation there," Aldger said to his father and grandfather.

"That is possible but then have you checked the temperature there all year round? And the production of grapes?" Loagn asked.

"There is also the problem of its surrounding, are you sure there is no other plants or species that would affect their growth?" Noah followed.

"At this moment it is under investigation. If things went well then I think it is a good choice," Aldger replied gaing a nod from the two elder men.

"Hmmm, but don't you think it is better to search for a land where you can plant what you are used to at first. This land is big enough and surely it is expensive, if you try to plant a new variation then you wouldn't know how to handle it when things don't go the right way. Wouldn't you have more losses then? At the same time, have you checked the conomy of that place? Was wine well accepted but competitions aren't fierce? Or was it well accepted and so many competitors around? You need to focus on the end product as well right?"

The three men were staring at her in shock.

They didn't realize that she has come and was shock to hear her speak such things.

"I mean I know you have researched about all of this but you are too focused on the land at this moment. Are you going to think about the wines when the grapes are already near its full growth? Wouldn't that be too late already? What if the grapes have grown well but the wines weren't well loved or that it was not something mosty knew of?"

After rubbing her chin with her hand, the gesture of her thinking deeply, she continued.

"Also what about the consumers? Will they like those expensive wines that some aristocrats like or would they rather have a milder one that is not too fermented?"

Then she realized that the room went silent.

She turned to see three men looking at her in curiosity.

"Were you always this smart?" Logan asked.

'Ah are we talking about my mind going on a vacation making my decisions not so good?' she thought as her brows twitched.

Heather raised her hand and showed a V sign, "I got it from our genes.

Aldger laughed, "You may have not known but Heather has a company of her own."

Once more her grandfather and father were shock and looked at her to see if Aldger was telling the truth.

"I have, a bit young but well I can tell it has a lot of potential," she replied, moving her fingers that are still in a V sign.

"What company?" Noah asked.

"Lishter Artillery."
