Chapter 3 - Rich Surprise

...

Ciara walked and chatted with her new grey company.

The sweet old lady had said her name was Cecilia but Ciara could just call her grandma.

Lady Cecilia was cheerful, funny and easy to talk to. Ciara had maintained a happy face throughout their brief chat, however, she couldn't help her mind's occasional straying to her burning concern: her exposed crush on Reo and her crashing life.

She paused, taking a moment to stare into space.

She hadn't cried since she met the old woman. She had been too puzzled by the rushed encounter to think too much about why she had run away from school.

She took in a deep breath trying to recollect herself. Trying to return to the tough leather-wearing, kungfu fighting girl she knew she was on the inside.

She failed, releasing the breath she was holding into a painful teardrop. She quaked from the depth of her renewed sorrow.

She quickly wiped her tear to prevent the old lady from noticing.

...

Lady Cecilia observed Ciara in silence for a while.

She watched the gentle spring breeze of the morning run through Ciara's tinted orange hair. Its gradient shades accentuated her natural beauty...

She watched the elegant rays of the new sun grace Ciara's pearly skin and highlight her sad amber pupils...

Her eyelashes were still damp with recent tears. Her nose, a little red from quiet sobbing, yet under the warm light, her lush pink lips bloomed richer than the freshest pink roses of spring...

Ciara's extraordinary glow could never go unnoticed. Even in the dampest of moods and in the plainest of clothes, her natural beauty outshone the very best.

'Ah... She's a beauty. A refreshing sight. Yes, but her expression is in sharp contrast to this cheerful weather.', thought lady Cecilia.

She focused her gaze on Ciara's absentminded face.

'Mm... The look in her eyes is sullen, the amber sparkle lost... and oh!...', she noticed a tear mark on Ciara's left cheek.

'...There it is. She's been crying, hasn't she?... Poor thing...', old lady Cecilia thought to herself.

She let out a sigh.

"Young one, I sense a little whisp of sadness... You have tear marks on your face, dear... and a uniform out on the streets at noon suggests this little hare skipped school... You can tell grandma what the matter is.", she said with a wrinkled wink. Her tone, sweet as honey.

Her statement caught Ciara by surprise.

"Haha... well, yes, I did skip school, ma'am, but for good reason...", she replied. She scratched a nervous itch behind her head.

The old lady chuckled again. "Well, I do love a good story.", she hinted Ciara to tell the tale.

Ciara heaved a heavy sigh.

She hesitated.

'...I don't know if it's ok to tell my problems to an absolute stranger, but this lady is really easy to talk to.', she thought to herself.

...

"If you're wondering if it's ok to tell me, you should know I'm an old lady who spends most of her time with pets and yarn. I don't have many cares left in this world haha... Your secret's safe with me.", lady Cecilia assured Ciara.

Ciara flashed a brief smile.

"Alright... Uh... Well... I have this crush on a guy... a celebrity and it got exposed at school today in the most embarrassing way possible. I'm currently the laughing stock of the entire school! I- I just couldn't stay there and watch my life go up in flames...", she said, her voice cracking at the end. A teardrop formed in her right eye.

Lady Cecilia placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"There, there... Don't cry now. It's okay.", she whispered.

"Mmm... A boy huh?... And a celebrity too... Well back in my day, I did fall head over heels in love with a rascal myself. Nelvis Wresley. A bad boy of a rockstar. Heck, I even lost my brains over him! He blew a kiss at me during a concert and I fainted. Haha... Later that week, I found his house, jumped over the fence, successfully hugged his scantily clothed body and then I spent the night in jail. Best day of my life! Haha...!"

"What? Really?! Hahaha... No way! Haha!" Ciara couldn't believe the ridiculously funny story. She giggled without restraint in the busy streets.

"Yes, really. He had been in the pool and was dripping wet when I got the hug too... Ayayaya! Good old days! Haha!", Lady Celine chuckled along.

At this point, Ciara was reeling with intense laughter.

"Ah! There it is. You're beautiful when you smile...", she complimented Ciara.

Ciara smiled shyly at that statement.

Lady Cecilia continued,

"...Trust me, dear. It's nothing new. Happens to the best of us. Don't get yourself worked up over this. It will blow over eventually. Besides, you've done nothing wrong. Just loved. No one should ever be ashamed of falling in love."

Ciara's heart felt lighter already.

"Yeah. I guess you're right... If Reo blows me a kiss, I would totally do the same thing haha!", she joked and laughed.

"Reo huh?... That little rascal.", Lady Celine seemed amused.

"You know him, grandma?"

"Of course! I hear he's famous these days...", replied the old lady.

"Yes. Very famous ma'am. He's incredible grandma. I just wish I could see Reo... Meet with him even if just once in my lifetime.", she said. Her eyes sparkled with adoration.

Grandma smiled sweetly.

"Well, miracles can happen, dear. Can't they?...", she said.

Ciara flashed a pretty smile.

...

"Here we are!", lady Cecilia declared.

Ciara looked for the old lady's house.

She found giant golden gates standing before her. The gates were see-through and intricately designed, same as the endless fence of the large estate! At the top of the prestigious gates, a decorated plaque displayed the name of the estate. "GRANDE AVENUE", it read.

The entire environment was lush, serene, and beautiful. Its thousands of acres of land bloomed with the beauty of spring as if it was located in the countryside. Just looking through the fence you could see acres and acres of land blooming with rich gardens like spring meadows in the pretty hills.

Elegant fountains spouted water here and there and Ciara could even spot the shine of a dazzling stream in the distance.

Furthermore, the rich glow of the few mansions here was blinding.

Only the very top of high society could visit let alone live here.

Ciara's jaw dropped to the floor!

She stared agape, stunned at the spectacular sight.

'G-g- Grande Avenue?! This old lady's house is a freaking mansion on Grande Avenue?!!... The richest, most exclusive residential area in C Country!? No way!...'

Her mind was blowing up.
