Dinner could not have been less pleasing; Fiona had been trying to converse with Angelo the entire dinner, and each time he had chosen to ignore or divert the conversation to Emily.
Even though Emily had tried her best not to converse with Angelo, giving Fiona all the time, she needed to get closer to him, none of that worked because, from time to time, she would catch him looking at her.
On multiple occasions, Emily smiled internally. As much as she knew that there would never be a real relationship between herself and Angelo, the concept of having him wrapped around her finger made her feel beautiful.
"So, my love, have you settled in with your new job?" Angelo asked Emily, cutting Fiona off. As she turned to look at Angelo, Emily saw that Fiona was beginning to turn red with anger. Emily swallowed the food in her mouth and cleared her throat.
