Chapter 27 - Episode 27: Put My Own Neck In The Guillotine

"AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"

The whole silver barracks were shaken by a loud shout early in the morning of the second day the adventurers arrived.

Obviously, Spencer and the rest received different types of looks from the knights under Julian after arriving.

Each barracks has about forty knights each.

They are the elites among the elites.

The rest of the knights of the kingdom are spread in different places within the kingdom. Most are dormitory type ones since they also came from the other cities of Antlia Kingdom. While some remained in those cities under the command of the dukes.

So, suddenly being brought over to the silver barracks without a name or anything to prove themselves the knights aren't welcoming towards them.

Even though Julian said that they had saved his life in the Dark Forest, the knights still felt that they were being given too much by being allowed to live there.

And now, their morning training was interrupted by the loud shout they just heard.

Yes, the shout is loud enough to be heard in the barracks that is composed of nine buildings with five rooms each. The buildings are in one line, facing the training ground. The entrance to this barracks is on the east side leading to the palace grounds and the west side leads to the plaza.

The other barracks are in a position like this and each are on different sides of the palace grounds. One entrance to it will always lead to the palace in order to have easier access.

Nevertheless, not hearing any follow up from the shout, they returned to their training. Though their dislike meter has increased. How can she shout in this place?

"I am going to die now," Luna said as imaginary tears are being wiped from her eyes.

"Relax. Your shout must have been heard by those knights in training," Spencer tried to calm her down.

Luna looked at him while pouting, "How can I calm down? Why did he not introduce himself properly? Why did he not introduce his brother properly? I just called the crown prince stupid. I called two princes stupid. Am I going to prison for treason? That rhymes."

She shook her head as she was suddenly distracted by her own words.

*knock knock*

Her face snapped to the door when a knock came.

It was Preshea who opened it.

"As we have heard that the lady is awake, we are here to inform you all that the king is calling for you once she wakes up," a knight stoically informed them.

He turned without waiting for them to reply.

"So, how are we going to meet the king?" Aaron asked as Preshea closed the door.

All four of them are actually in the room that Luna was using.

After she woke up and wondered where they were, the four of them had to slowly tell her what happened after she had fallen asleep. And the shout followed after it sunk into her that Julian and Gabriel are indeed the princes of this country. Julian being the crown prince.

"Let's just step out. Staying inside longer when we were already informed will only give these people more things to talk about," Spencer sighed.

Luna was still grumbling as they stepped out of the room.

"What do you think? One prince is enough to take me to prison. Did I just put my own neck in the guillotine?"

She looked at Spencer while they walked along towards the gate that leads to the palace.

"I mean I insulted two princes. I insulted royalty?"

She is currently messing with her hair as she thought about the way she interacted with Julian and Gabriel.

"Luna, the crown prince already said it. He did not introduce himself to us properly. The way we interacted with him is fine," Spencer was helpless himself.

They left Circinus Kingdom because they really wanted to stay away from the royalty. Who would have thought that they'd get entangled with another royalty after leaving that place?

'Are we supposed to actually be entangled with royalty all our life?' Aaron asked after they settled in the place given to them by Julian.

And the three silently agreed. It seems that in this lifetime whether it was one thousand years ago or to the present, they are meant to be connected with the royal family.

'Let's just hope that this family is different,' Preshea commented next, a slight frown on her face after she said those words.

And now, Luna is about to lose her mind as she thinks about how things will unfold once they meet the king.

"Should I kneel right after getting close and bow down while hitting my head on the floor? How many times should I do it so that they would forgive me?"

She started counting on her fingers, as if she was also computing the anger of the king, how much it would lessen with every hit of her head on the floor.

"Luna," Spencer didn't know what to say anymore.

Even the other three gave up in trying to convince her that they can only wait for the king's order, she is too flustered.

Well, not that they are too weak to think about not fighting. But this kingdom has not done anything to them to actually have a fight with it. They just wanted to live simply and peacefully while strengthening themselves and recovering in order to prepare for what the future will bring.

"Me and my big mouth," she sighed as she started accepting her fate.

"Will I really not be beheaded?" she looked at the other four with a pitiful look after a few seconds of acceptance.

"Why would you be beheaded?"

"WAAAHHH!!!!"

Luna jumped when another voice butted in.

She jumped because she immediately recognized the voice.

It is none other than Julian himself.

He is standing behind them with two other knights wearing that same knight uniform he had used when they first met him.

This time though he is wearing more appropriate clothing for a prince with the royal crest on his belongings. His medium length hair that was brushed up when they first met is now let down with his fringes long enough to pass his eyebrows. It is shorter beneath his ears and longer towards the top.

One knight has sky blue mid-length messy hair and eyes. The other one has short yellow hair with some strands that are pigtailed and long enough to reach his upper back.

The two of them are seriously looking at the five of them.

They can tell that these two must be in their mid-twenties. They are actually of the same height as Spencer who is six feet three inches tall. Julian is a bit taller at six feet five inches.

He is actually among the tallest in the kingdom, even with Circinus Kingdom.

Luna's face dropped at the sight of him, "How can you do this to me, yo- your highness? How can you play with my heart like this?"

The two men behind Julian had their brows twitched.

Why does it sound different the way she composed her sentence?

Julian raised an eyebrow, he too felt that her words were weird.

"How can you give me this much pain, your highness?" she continued complaining.

Julian cleared his throat, the two words 'your highness' felt awkward coming from her lips.

"What happened?" he asked.

"You lied to me, your highness."

The other knights who were passing by almost tripped after hearing her.

Aaron bit his bottom lip, Luna is obviously playing around right now. She must really be mad that he kept quiet about his name. Not that he was obligated to tell them.

And Aaron is close to cracking up.

"Why? Why did you play with me by hiding it, your highness?"

Aaron ended up coughing as he tried his best not to laugh.

Spencer looked away as he also suppressed his laughter, Luna is truly messing with Julian.

Richard simply rolled his eyes while Preshea covered her lips.

Luna now sounded like she was a lover played around by him.

Julian saw their reaction and knew that she was doing this on purpose, he just squinted his eyes on her.

The other two behind him looked at her threateningly after they also understood what was going on.

Luna shrugged, seeing as they caught on.

"I apologize, your highness. I was unaware of your identity and have disrespected you. At this moment, we are on our way to the palace to meet the king as he was calling for us. May we go, your highness?"

Julian slightly furrowed his brows, she was suddenly being distant.

Though they did not become close over the few days that he traveled with them, he can tell that there is suddenly a wall between him and her.

"I see. You may go. But not until I offer you my own apology."

"Your highness!!" the yellow haired guy reacted instantly.

Julian sharply looked at him.

"They are my savior and I was the one who lied to them. It is necessary that I apologize for inconveniencing them with all the looks you all are giving them just because I selfishly brought them here."

Of course he knew that the knights didn't like them for coming here through him.

But if he was asked, these five are much stronger than most of the people here. Maybe not the ones behind him but surely more than half of the people here.

And that is only because they are injured.
