Chapter 5 - Move Out (Part 1)

"Despicable person, you must have done it on purpose!" Grace had spent the entire night unable to sleep, her mind filled with the injustice and frustration of being slapped by her father. The more she thought about it, the more she hated Amalia. As soon as she appeared, Grace dragged her to the garden to confront her.

"What do you mean on purpose?" Amalia retorted with an indifferent expression.

Grace had never seen such an expression on the original owner face, let alone her attitude. Seeing that she wasn't admitting anything, Grace raised her hand to hit her.

Amalia grabbed her wrist. "Do I need to go talk to your father about this?"

A gleam of anger flashed in Grace eyes. Through clenched teeth, she said, "So you finally admit it!"

"Admit what? Admit that you had your friend hit me?" Amalia gazed at her and said calmly, "How would your father react if he knew about this?"

Grace saw her confident demeanor and sneered, "Despicable person, do you really think..."

"Grace!" Alex intervened at the right moment.

Amalia looked at Alex, realizing he had been lurking nearby, trying to figure out his intentions.

Of course, if he hadn't intervened, Grace might have revealed the truth.

And, of course, she soon found out.

"Grace, she's your cousin. How can you say such things?" Alex walked over and grabbed Grace, looking disapproving. "Aren't you going to apologize to your cousin?"

Grace felt her hand being squeezed by her brother and became less impulsive. However, apologizing was out of the question. "Impossible, I won't apologize. She caused me to be slapped by Dad. I haven't settled that score with her yet. Brother, if you're not on my side and speaking up for me, and even want me to apologize to her, then I dislike you too!"

Grace finished speaking and stormed off in frustration.

"Grace!" Alex called after her, but received no response. He turned helplessly to Amalia. "Amalia, on behalf of Grace, I apologize to you. Don't take her words to heart. She's been spoiled by us, that's why her temper is so bad. Whatever she said to you at the club last night, don't take it to heart. Her words don't represent us. My parents and I have always treated you as family."

"I know." Amalia said. "I won't hold it against her. Don't worry."

She certainly didn't hold a grudge against Grace. The one who wronged the original owner was the Rodriguez family, not her. She didn't feel any particular hatred towards the Rodriguez family members. However, she would fulfill the original owner wishes as a way to repay the favor of occupying her body. Her first step was to move out of the Rodriguez residence.

Seeing that Amalia didn't seem to be lying, Alex nodded and went to comfort Grace.
