Hammered and thudding was all she felt. Her head felt so heavy with the killer headache that made her want to scream. She felt the fluffy bedding surrounding her making her feel like she was in heaven. She jumped up, registering the unfamiliar environment around her.
The last thing she remembered was the bartender giving her directions to the restroom and her head getting dizzy in the room. She remembered seeing a figure closing in on her body. Selene quickly touched her body, finding it bare.
"Oh my god,what have I done?" She mumbled to herself in panic. She looked around for her clothes or at least her phone.
Locating her phone first she quickly turned it on dialing Charlotte's number. Multiple text messages and missed calls bombarded her phone.
"Charr, where are you?" Selene rumbled in panic. "You have some explaining to do, where are you?" Charlotte demanded worriedly.
" Come pick me up at the club I guess," Selene said, hanging up. She collected her clothes feeling too exhausted and drained to walk. Her eyes widened knowing all too well when that meant, she'd given a stranger her innocence and she didn't remember any moment of it. Devasted, she rushed to the door only to reveal a familiar pair of deep blue eyes.
"Oh, leaving too soon?" He said looking into her eyes.Selene felt her words get caught in her throat.
The man before her made her rethink her regret of giving away her v-card to a stranger. From up close he looked godlike. His eyes drew her in,his serious features did nothing else but reinforce his masculinity.
He was wearing shorts with a tight shirt that revealed his abs that caused Selene to drool. She lowered her eyes to the visible v-line on his waist. She blushed at her naughty thoughts.
"If you're done gawking at me then you better have some breakfast, you must be exhausted from all the activity last night," he stated quite boldly.
Jake was quite impressed with how she found her way into his penthouse. He had just opened the door to his penthouse and went downstairs to take his phone from the bar only to find her on his bed when he returned.
He was used to women throwing themselves at him but he had to admit this one had some bold moves. She seemed confused and too drunk but she begged him to take her no matter how he protested. It was as if she was on drugs or something. When she mentioned it was her first time, Jake couldn't push through. He would never take advantage of a virgin.
"Did anything happen last night?" Selene asked looking around, she could have sworn she entered a single room how did she end up in a penthouse.
"A lot happened love," he said grinning at her, making her blush.
"Anyway,my friend, we'll be here soon," she said, not wanting to hear another detail about last night.
His phone rang and he excuses himself to take it.
Selene noticed a pair of pills and a glass of water. "Oh how thoughtful," she mumbled to herself while taking the hangover pills.
Jake felt frustrated at the news he'd just received. Did the Rogers family think they could toil with him? He waited eagerly waiting for the picture of his supposed bride. Mr Rogers had once sent it to his office but he never bothered to look at it. But now that they're hiding her, he had to see her face.
Jake couldn't believe that for the first time he had spent the night with a woman and not touched her. Her features had captivated her from the first time he had seen her. He found it funny he didn't even know her name. He had his door bang and he knew that might be her sneaking away.
Before he could react his phone pinged causing him to freeze at the picture before him. How could this be? He felt anger and disgust creep up his gut. He rushed to the door hoping to catch up with his unexpected guest.
Selene sneaked out quickly as soon as Charlotte texted she had arrived. "Hey gal,what happened, how come you spent the night here?" Her best friend asked.
" I think I just lost my virginity to a cute stranger," Selene squealed at Charlotte, closing her eyes tightly.
"Are you serious right now?" Charlotte inquired rather worried. "What if something bad had happened to you?" She continued worriedly.
" Let's go, I'll explain everything along the way," Selene said, opening the car door.
"Nobody is going anywhere," a deep voice said behind them.
They both turned as Charlotte's eyes widened in shock. She was sure she had seen this man before.
"Look handsome guy,I am grateful for having given you my innocence but you don't have to follow me around," Selene said, surprised at the clinginess this guy seemed to have.
Charlotte nugged her hand pulling her hand signaling her to shut up.
"What is it Charr,tell him to stay away, why are you silent?" Selene asked, looking at her friend who seemed to be dumbfounded. Selene looked between the fuming man and her quiet friend.
" So this was your family's plan?" Jake asked, shoving his finger in front of her face. All he could feel was anger, to think that she had managed to seduce him. All his emotions towards her turn into hate.
His father made a deal with Rogers to save his company in return he was to sell shares of his company to the Lynns'. He needed this engagement to earn the final approval from his father to lead the company fully. His father had threatened to give his unruly brother that position.
"What do you mean?"Selene asked, confused.
"Don't act surprised, now that you are already here, we might as well sign all the necessary documents," Jake said looking at her with disgust.
"This is Jackson Lynn," Charlotte whispered so quickly that Selene had to repeat it in her head to understand.
Wasn't he supposed to be an old man? How could this be? Selene looked at him, her eyes widening.
Everything became more clear to explain his change of mood. Selene felt her words dry up.
" Charlotte, I think this is the moment where you get in the car and drive us away so fast," Selene whispered to her friend.
"If you take another step, I'll sue your whole family," Jake threatened. This woman really had the nerves,he had started believing that she had run away like Roderick had reported.
"Now if you'll excuse us,I would like to drive my wife to her father's house for some unfinished business," Jake said looking at Charlotte. Charlotte looked at her friend pitifully. She would not dare offend the Lynns',so much was at stake here not to mention her family too.
Selene looked at her friend's worried face and hugged her. " It's okay Charr, there's nothing you can do at this point,atleast we know I am not marrying an old man," Selene chuckled, trying to lighten up her friend's mood.
"Call me when everything settles,I love you so much Lene," Charlotte hugged her friend even tighter. She had to find a way to help her no matter what but for now they had to rely on fate.
Arriving at the Rogers' mansion, Selene felt her heart sink. "We are at your house,you better go back up while u talk to your father and don't even think of running away,I have my guards all over this place," Jake warned now that he knew what she was capable of.
Jake threw her one last look and headed to ring the doorbell. Before he could even get there, Mr Rogers opened the door pulling Selene into his embrace. " You got us all worried,where were you sweetheart,"
he asked, faking concern.
Jake looked at how ignorant Selene was to a family that loved her so much. If only he was treated this well by his parents. "I am so sorry Mr.Lynn for the trouble," Mr Rogers apologized.
" It's nothing after all we are practically family," Jake replied cutting the conversation. He was never known to like long talks.
"This is my wife Juliet and my younger daughter Lilian," Mr Rogers introduced his family. Lilian never thought the Lynns' eldest son was this young,she felt a pang of jealousy hit her.
She didn't mind that he noticed she was checking him out. Jake ignored her looking at his side only to find Selene had already gone into the house.
" Let's finalize everything then shall we?" Mr Rogers said, guiding him to his study room.
Selene felt trapped as if she couldn't breathe. She grabbed a glass of her favorite juice on the kitchen counter and drank it to calm her nerves.
"Now that the contract is signed I would like to announce the official wedding date, a week from today," Jackson announced, causing gasps across the room.
A piercing scream came from the kitchen causing everyone to rush to the direction.
And there she was writhing on the floor before falling flat causing everyone's eyes to open w
ide.
"Maria what happened here?" Mr. Rogers asked, falling to his knees beside his daughter.
