Chapter 14 - Episode 14: Shall We Talk About Business Now?

The guard gestured for Luna to go inside after he had gotten permission from the king.

Luna walked past him while he looked at her with disdain.

"Just because you are strong doesn't mean you can look down on others," he spat in a lower tone.

Luna raised her brow.

"Be careful of your steps when you go out."

She even had a smile on causing the guard to be bewildered.

He shook his head and walked away while Luna walked inside. As the door closed, the man suddenly tripped.

He was suddenly unable to raise his leg and end up tripping causing him to fall forward flat on his face.

"Wha-"

He got up and looked around.

There was no one else in there but he felt like someone suddenly grabbed hold of his leg and then his body felt so heavy, he couldn't stop his fall at all.

He looked back on the closed door.

"Impossible."

Luna was gloating inside after entering.

'I never looked down on anyone. You guys are too insecure. You feel like everything we do is looking down on you.'

After feeling better she looked forward, only to see the man adorned with the finest of clothes, sitting on the chair made of the most extravagant of wood and gems. He sat with his head held high while the crown sitting atop his head was covered with its own precious gems.

She scoffed in her mind, 'Like ancestor, like descendant. They still loved putting too many gems in their crown and chair. Who are they trying to impress? The thieves?'

She almost rolled her eyes but stopped at the last moment.

"Greet his majesty the king," the attendant glared at her.

Just like the guard, he was shocked to see that it was this woman who came instead of the usual person. Nevertheless, he still doesn't like her.

Luna smiled before facing the king.

She knelt down and bowed, "I greet his majesty, the king."

For the second time, the attendant was lost.

Her bow was proper, it was filled with elegance despite it being the simple kneeling and bowing they usually do.

He frowned but simply harrumphed when she did not retort and just did what he said.

'Acting strong but bows to the strong instead. How laughable,' he scoffed in his mind.

But how can Luna not tell what is going on in his mind?

She looked up at Harland.

'Harland Morgan Davonius, the Davonius blood surely runs strong. Even after a thousand years, you are able to hold on to the throne.'

Harland was looking down at her, he had this haughty look in his eyes.

But his hands were sweaty, when Zedock Wakefield returned with the injured knights. He and Duke Wakefield were shocked. Their number should have had the chance to take down those five adventurers but instead, they returned defeated.

And the one who defeated one third of them was none other than this person in front of him.

Based on Zedock's report, this person seemed to have changed completely after she opened her eyes. And seeing her now, he can tell that there is indeed a difference in her aura.

Back when her eyes were closed, he could only feel the pressure from a powerful aura.

This time, he actually couldn't feel anything and that is scarier than when you feel it.

Because it means she is either powerful enough to hide her aura or she is too weak. The latter is impossible if one is to think about her achievements with her group.

Then the only reason is the former, this person in front of him is strong.

"I wish to speak with his majesty alone. What I am about to tell you is of utmost importance, your majesty. It is something we should discuss on our own."

"How dare you speak such nonsense!!"

The attendant was instantly enraged by her demand.

Luna did not bother looking at him and instead continued looking at Harland.

"This commoner!!"

"That's enough. You go ahead and leave," Harland waved his hand towards the attendant.

Spencer was someone who just did what is to be done. He didn't want to do anything excessive or lacking when in front of him. But Harland knew that Spencer is a strong person, because just like this person in front of him, he could not feel his aura at all.

In contrast to Spencer, Harland could tell that Luna means business. She won't do anything unless he does as she says.

He felt repulsed obviously, enraged even at the way she does things but unless he understands the depths of her strength he can't be too rash.

With gritted teeth, he sent his attendant out.

"Now speak," he didn't want to lessen his authority by speaking in an authoritative manner.

His eyes continued looking down at her.

"What happened in the Dark Forest that you needed to report to me in urgency?"

Luna stood up causing his face to darken.

"Ah," Luna reacted seeing his face.

"Could it be you are planning to make me kneel all throughout our talk, your majesty?"

Harland glared at her.

"I see that you do, your majesty."

She smiled, a smile that is no longer the playful one she had been using a while ago, it is now a smile that has meanings behind.

"But, your majesty, a ghost won't need to show respect towards the king."

"What nonsense are you spouting, commoner?"

"Didn't you send us to that escort mission to send us to our death?"

"Atrocious!!!"

Harland slammed his hand on the armrest of his chair.

"GUA-"

"You can go and call them while I don't mind playing this out here."

Before he could call for his guards, Luna was already by the window holding a black orb in her hand.

He furrowed his brows not understanding her actions until he looked at the black orb closely.

"That's!!"

It was a black orb that is close to being nonexistent in the current time.

"Yes, your majesty. This is the black orb whose main material is very rare."

It has different other materials but the main one is the most difficult to find.

A part of a star.

As their mana comes from the stars, gaining a part of a star, which they call Comet. One can create many wonders. One of them is the black orb that Luna is holding right now.

This black orb has the capability to record events as long as one were to put mana in it.

As long as it is a comet, any mana can be induced on it. In contrast with each mana having different stars to acquire from.

This black orb will save the series of events as long as someone keeps pouring mana in it.

"Why do you have that?" he became flustered.

"I don't think I needed to answer that for we were never a part of the kingdom. We are what you called wandering adventurers but you exploited us and even wished for us to die?"

Luna laughed. Coming here and meeting this person, she knew what her friends had been through. She knows what Spencer always experiences whenever he meets this person and that enrages her even more.

"Shall we talk business now, your majesty?" she asked again.

"Why should I? That orb may just be empty, and what can you threaten me with that-"

'Hate you? Commoners like you? I don't even wish to put you in my eyes. I only accepted this request from my uncle because it was a task given by the king. Killing you will bring the relationship between the dukedom and the royal family more depth than it already has.'

Harland's eyes widened, Zedock had actually opened his mouth.

"Oh, by the way, this is not the only one we have. Do you want me to continue? I can do it outside the window, it seems you won't believe it unless the whole kingdom where to see it."

As she said this she put out her hand holding the orb.

'COMMONERS DARE TO L-'

People turned their heads when they heard a sudden booming voice. But before they could register what it was saying it ended.

Confused, they looked around but there was nothing.

It became a talk but only for a short while.

Harland was huffing, his hand raised, he is now standing and is close to Luna.

"Okay. I get your point. What do you want to talk about?"

He insulted the commoners a lot.

Using the word commoner to speak about Astral when their popularity continued rising.

He did not expect that someone was actually recording his words and actions.

Luna smiled mockingly, 'Again like ancestors like descendants. You feared the fact that others are being worshiped by the people more than your family. And despite looking down at your people, you feared that they would turn their backs on you so you keep up with your act of wanting nothing but their well-being.'

"I guess..."

Harland was ready to grab the black orb from her once she let her guard down.

But before he could do so, Luna disappeared in front of him and reappeared beside his chair.

Her movements were fast, if he is to compare it must be comparable with the captains of the elite knights.

Some of the heads were actually stronger than him. He was just glad that they are loyal to the royal family.

"...shall we talk about business now?"

Luna smiled as she asked.
