Chapter 5 - Episode 5: Always Been A Destructive Ability

Spencer glanced at Luna while Preshea checked on the great orc's blood and piece of flesh.

"We will end it here," he then said to the others.

They all looked at him and nodded their heads when he glanced at Luna.

"After you find out what happened, it shall be the end of our report," he then said to Preshea.

"Give me a day," she replied.

Spencer looked up at the dense umbrella of trees.

The wind blew causing the leaves to rustle.

"It seems that the dark forest is getting even more dangerous than we thought it to be."

He looked back at the other five.

"You guys should return to your kingdom now. This place, even the outer area, is far different from usual. You better inform your kingdom to up their guards as well. Both kingdoms that sandwich the Dark Forest would send knights to lessen the number of monsters. They should know that they need to ensure that their security is fine as well."

Kyle and the others looked at one another, they still wished to learn, for even just observing was enough for them to see different other ways of doing things.

Too bad, it was cut short.

The knights of their kingdom were either not taking them seriously or not giving them a chance to train at all.

Spencer looked at Aaron and Aaron shrugged while also raising his hand in defeat. He can't be stubborn at this point.

These guys' faces are just too much for them to just send them away without anything.

They indeed stopped looking at them like heroes, the thing they hated the most, but have shown that they genuinely wished to improve themselves and not simply watch some made-up heroes fight with their strength.

"Why don't you go and learn a thing or two from Preshea while she checks on what she needs to check? Even though she is doing something, she can still answer a few of your questions," Spencer said to Julius.

Julius' eyes twinkled at the words he had just heard, and without delay, he rushed to where Preshea is.

Preshea looked back at Spencer before sighing, superior's order.

"I think he can tell you a few things about your ability. He has quite some capability in being quiet. Literally and not," Spencer pointed at Richard with his thumb while speaking to Kyle.

Kyle bowed at him before going to Richard who was leaning on a tree.

"You should go to him as well, as the same ability user, Richard can give you pointers of your ability," he then said to Patrick.

Patrick did not dilly-dally and went to Richard as well.

"You go and have some fighting styles from him. As a plant ability user, you have a lot of cons when you fight. It is among the common ones..."

He smiled tenderly when Lilian showed sadness on her face.

"But that doesn't mean you can't improve in other ways. As a wind ability user, Aaron has more capabilities in evading attacks. But at the same time, attack fluidly. You can learn those things and have your plants play a supporting role."

Lilian still did not seem happy at this.

Spencer placed his hands on his knees and bent over to have his eyes on the same level as hers.

"The abilities are not always the main attacking power of those who have abilities. Sometimes their abilities are their great support instead to maximize different patterns of attacks with their weapons. I can tell you have trained a lot with your sword."

Lilian's green eyes widened a bit with his observation.

"I suppose you took it upon yourself to be the protector of your twin brother. And you are doing great in wielding it, surely you will improve by leaps and bounds if you are given some proper guidance."

Lilian finally showed confidence as she vigorously nodded her head before going to Aaron, who was already waiting for her.

"So do you want to learn anything? I can tell you have the most control over your ability amongst you five," Spencer finally looked at Eldon.

"I may be capable of controlling my ability just fine but I can tell that you are far better than it. Even better than some people I know."

Spencer tilted his head to the side, "In what way?"

Eldon created a fire in his palm, "The way it never hurt the things you didn't want to hurt."

Spencer was a bit lost for words at how deep his words are.

He did the same with his fire and the two teens looked at each of their fires.

"Fire has always been a destructive ability. It can burn everything no matter how small. It can also bring pain to its owner when it gets out of control. Because you can hurt those who are precious to you."

Eldon looked at him, he felt that Spencer could understand him somehow.

"Now I see..."

Spencer muttered looking at Eldon.

Eldon slightly furrowed his brows.

"I had been thinking that your attack patterns are being held back by something. And for it to happen here despite the control of your fire, then I guess it must be that girl."

Eldon's eyes instantly widened, he was always careful with his actions even with his eyes. How can this person?

Spencer chuckled, "Your reaction just proved me right. I was simply guessing."

Eldon's face darkened a bit.

"Calm down kid-"

"You are just two years older than me," Eldon interrupted.

Spencer raised his brow, "Indeed, but well, listen here. Once you know the pain of hurting what was precious to you. You will be hindered by it, with the way you control the strength of your ability, you won't be able to give it your all."

Spencer sent down the fire in his palm and this created a small fire burst that caused damage on the ground surrounding Eldon. But he was unharmed even though he was in the middle of it.

Eldon could feel the warmth but he was not getting burned at all.

"So start there, you can be cautious but there is a limit to it. All you have to do is control your fire in a way that the people you deem as allies cannot be hurt by your fire. After all..."

He created three fireballs and started juggling with them. Then the three fireballs played around him, one even rubbed itself on his cheek as if it was a pet.

"Our abilities are a part of our bodies. Just as we can control the strength of our punch and kick depending on who we are facing, we can also do that with our abilities. The only difference is that our abilities are a wide area of attack, not just a single one."

Spencer waved his hand and the three fireballs disappeared.

"How about you start with this..."

He opened his palms at the same time and fire appeared on each of them. Just that one was fierce and hot while the other was calm and simply warm.

"Once you can control them freely at the same time. You can go ahead and create more using your arms or elbows or shoulders or even your legs..."

As he speaks of the body parts, fires appear on them as well.

"Increase the number steadily and when you can control them freely individually, then..."

With a flick of his hand, all the small fires combined and became a big one right beside him, like a campfire.

Though if one were to look closely, certain areas are chaotic while others are calm.

Eldon reached out his hand and when it got close to the chaotic sides, he could already feel the heat without touching it. But when he reached out to the calm sides, even if he touches it, he does not feel any pain at all.

"You can start controlling the areas of your fire as well."

Eldon can control the strength of fire at the same time but he can't control the temperature of it. Or the temperature of the fire touching one area and then another.

"Go on and give it a try. Based on how you can control your fire's strength, I know you can do this just fine."

Eldon did as he was told and what he had observed, but an hour passed and it proved to be difficult.

"You are doing it wrong," Spencer said when Eldon sat down to rest.

"You are trying to command your fire. What you need to do is to make it a part of your body. Not a separate entity that you needed to give instructions to. You have to reach a point where even subconsciously, it will react the way you wanted it to."

Eldon nodded his head but as he was about to stand, Spencer stopped him with a cup of water.

It was a cup made out of leaves.

"Rest is needed. One hour may be short but when accumulated, it will only bring discomfort. Plus it is already night, we all learned not to train new things at night for our body subconsciously absorbs our star's mana causing mana explosion."

Training new attacks at night will make them use their mana and when they use their mana, the mana that resonates with it will be attracted to a space it will leave in their core.

Just like how water tries to fill in the gap when a space occurred at what it was supplying.

Just that mana does not know how to stop, the body will continue absorbing it until it is too full to the point of exploding.

That is the danger of training during the night in an inappropriate area.

Training does not allow you to make full use of your mana as compared to fighting. Fighting at night won't cause too much danger as you need to replenish your mana to defeat your enemy.
