"Did Second Young Master kill her?"
"What nonsense are you spouting, you stupid? Second Young Master said he saw her near the club and her whole body was freezing. So he took her back since she fainted. It looks like something happened because her right arm is bleeding. Maybe Young Master tried to kill her"
The woman's loud voice from outside made Asteria's eyes widened in realization. She quickly sat up on the bed with a speed. The white wall was the first one her eyes met. She explored the room with narrowed eyes. Normal lamp, plain white curtain and white couch.
She was in a simple room.
Her hand reached to her right arm quickly, making sure if she was alive or reborn again. "Ah.." she groaned in pain. She still could feel the wound. So she was still alive, she survived from the death. A satisfied small smile appeared on her face. "Thank goodness" she sighed in relief.
Since it was the morning, Asteria's stomach growled. "Are you awake now?" A woman's voice brought Asteria back from thinking what to eat. The woman was standing at the door in maid outfit, she was looking at Asteria as if she was seeing a filthy trash. It made Asteria frowned.
The woman's voice contained annoyance. Asteria could feel it. "Yes" she answered as tried to step out of the bed. "Don't you dare to move. Go back to sleep" the woman spoke like an owner of the house. Asteria's frown tightened. Just by a look, she could tell that the woman was the maid.
"I am hungry"
"So what? The breakfast time is over. Don't cause troubles and go back to sleep" the woman's lips twitched in disgust. Asteria jaw dropped, she did not know what to say anymore. It was as if the woman put the glue on her lips. "No, it is not over until I say so"
The young woman's cold reply stunned the woman in maid outfit. It was the first time the young woman had spoken back bravely. The woman could not believe her own eyes and ears. What was going on? Normally, the girl would nod in fear and do as she said.
But now she even talked back bravely. The woman frowned as she stepped forward to the young woman who was looking straight into her eyes. "You dare to talk back?!" In a blink, the woman slapped Asteria's cheek hardly, making the young woman stunned.
'This bitch!' Asteria's eyes started to fill with flames. Her glowing eyes somehow made the woman quivered in fear. "You, tell me your name" Asteria coldly spoke as she stepped out of the bed, facing the woman with a murderess look. "Did you get amnesia?"
The woman asked with a disgusted look. "Don't make me repeat, you old witch" Asteria's harsh words made the woman bit her lip in embarrassment. "How dare you talk like that to your elderly?!" The woman shouted loudly, pointing the finger at Asteria.
"You are fucking deaf, aren't you?"
The young woman lifted her inner eyebrows along with upper lip, showing a disgusted look to the woman. "You!" The woman raised her right hand into the air, ready to slap Asteria really hard. "You are so slow, no wonder your age is almost near the end" Asteria caught the maid's hand.
The woman's face flushed in embarrassment and frustration. "Let me go! I said let me go! Mara Athena! Let me go!" Suddenly the name which the woman called made Asteria eyes widened in disbelief. "What did you just call me?" The young woman questioned with furrowed eyebrows.
"Mara Athena! Are you satisfied? Now let me go, you little bitch!" The woman shouted loudly that even Asteria's ears could bleed. Asteria quickly let go the woman's hand as she fell on knees. "No way.. don't tell me this is the novel I read and disliked" she murmured as hands ran through her hair.
"Fuck.. damn it damn it damn it! Ahhh! Take me back!! I don't want this! I will just go to hell instead! Please! Someone take me out of here!" Asteria's shout made the woman flinched and stepped back. She furrowed her brows in confusion.
Why was the girl shouting like a fool?
Did someone hit the young woman's head? Why did she react like that when the woman called her 'Mara Athena'? The woman frowned tightly in confusion and frustration. She did not think anymore and walked out of the room, leaving Asteria alone.
"Why?!!" The young woman yelled. Ofc, she remembered that name so well. 'Mara Athena', the side character of the novel who died in early age. Asteria had read that novel before, it was a romance novel of cold, strong male lead and outgoing, weak female lead.
Asteria disliked it and dropped the book because she only favoured the strong female leads. Weak heroines were like a trouble maker and did not deserve the male leads at all, that was what Asteria believed. But the reality was cruel for her.
Mara Athena was the same with heroine. She was weak and scared of people. She lacked confidence even though she was the CEO of famous company and owned it. In novel, Mara was already dead because of her non blood related brother. Yes, that's right.
The real Mara was dead in club's toilet under lustful man hands. And that was when Asteria's soul shifted in Mara's body. The moment when real Mara died was the moment Asteria reborn. "Please tell me this is a dream!!" Asteria shouted as she gripped her hair like a woman who lost her child.
"Calm down.. calm down"
"Mara.."
She called out the name. No wonder those people were treating her like a trash just now. Because Mara was the most hated side character in the novel even though she did not do anything wrong. Her birth was a mistake, even her own father hated her and treated her like an air.
Asteria would like to bite her tongue and kill herself. How could she survive in the novel which she disliked? Also the body she was in was Mara Athena! Mara Athena! The girl who everyone seen as a trash! "What the fuck did I do wrong to deserve this?!!" Asteria cried out.
"Wait, hold on...." suddenly her eyes sparkled at the reality. "Mara is CEO!" She shouted joyfully. In her past life, she spent many times to become a famous business woman. She fought with many people to get the CEO position, she used all of her strength to become the CEO.
But now she could just go and work right away because the CEO position was in her hand. A satisfied smile appeared on her face. Not to mention that the company of Mara Athena was the most successful company in the country.
"Omg yes!!! That's it!!! This is better!!! I like it!! Thank you!! Now I can use money as much as I want!! I don't need to work hard anymore!" Asteria stood up from the floor and threw her hand into the air. "From now on, I am Mara Athena! Yesss!" She shouted like a kid.
"I need to get rich and healthy" she murmured. She needed to get richer than before because Mara Athena's father was the one who took money from company. He only gave the CEO position and company to his daughter but all the money went into his bank account.
Asteria walked towards the huge standing mirror, wanted to take a look of herself. She gasped when she saw her reflection in the mirror. Honey brown fox eyes, straight eyebrows, small cute nose, perfect proportion lips and chocolate colored long hair, the girl looked stunning.
She looked like a pure angel mixed with devilish features. "Omg, this girl is so pretty. No, she is eternally beautiful.." Asteria smiled in satisfaction as she touched her soft skin. "Money, beautiful face, good body and confidence! Duh, this body suits me well. Perfect!"
Anxiety and hatred for the world vanished into thin air quickly when Asteria accepted the fact. Suddenly, her stomach growled. Asteria looked down at her stomach as she rubbed it gently. Her stomach was asking for food. "Let's show them who the real owner is"
Her lips curved up into a devil smile.
Asteria did not go down to the dining room and stayed inside her room all day. She waited to see who cared. But no one came to tell her to come down and eat. "Alright, let's start the show tomorrow. I am going to eat this chocolate for now"
She chewed the dark chocolate as thoughts ran inside her head. A satisfied smile appeared on her face. She found a way to punish the maids who dared to treat her as a trash. "Husky!" She shouted as the dog's barks were heard from outside.
"Finally, one and only friend of Mara Athena" she murmured as stepped out of the bed and walked towards the door to open the door. As she opened the door, her eyes met a black and white medium dog, Siberian Husky. Asteria grinned, she knelt down and hugged the Husky.
"Omg! My baby, you look so cute" It was a dream of Asteria to have a Siberian Husky. But she did not have enough time to play with the dog even though she could buy it. Now, she could have it. Asteria picked up the Husky which was wagging his tail.
She put down the dog on her bed. "So do you want to eat human's bone?" She asked with a smirk, knowing that the dog in front of her was the type to obey her and kill people if she wanted it to. "Wait, he can't understand me. Duh, I am stupid" Asteria sighed.
"Whatever, let's sleep! Tomorrow, we are going to watch the best show!" She happily shouted as her hands wrapped around the dog which was staring at her in admiration. "You know Husky, it is kinda weird when you stare at me with those eyes" Asteria spoke as she lied down on the bed along with her dog.
Her eyes were staring back into the Husky's ice blue eyes. "Nevermind, do whatever you want" She shrugged away her impossible thoughts and closed her eyes. The time was around midnight so it was normal for her to feel sleepy. The Husky also fell asleep in his owner's arms.
Like that the night continued.
