Chapter 44 - Episode 44: My Cute Knight Trainee

"I am so full," Luna rubbed her stomach.

She turned to the other four, "The food in there was delicious. The place looks normal, not your usual exquisite restaurants but the dishes are superb."

The four of them were a bit bewildered.

The place they brought her was indeed not as exquisite as most of the restaurants being visited by most nobles. It was also because she asked them to let her see the normal side of the kingdom.

Maybe because she was already used with being an adventurer that she continued loving doing things as an adventurer, is what was going on in their minds.

Luna took a deep breath before sighing in contentment.

"Ack."

But her happiness was cut short when someone suddenly pulled her collar from behind.

"What was that for?" she looked back at Spencer.

Spencer waved at the four of them, "You guys go back and continue training."

He was shooing them away.

"Before that, is Richard really in our house?" Kyle asked, remembering what he heard a while ago.

"Yes."

He smiled widely.

"We have an early start tomorrow and our ability training tonight will end quite late. You won't have the chance to go home."

Eldon actually dampened his mood by stating the fact about their schedules.

"Now go."

Spencer continued waving his as if shooing them away.

"You are the only trainer who would shoo us away."

"I know, I know," he replied.

The four of them left, waving Luna goodbye.

"Let's walk."

Luna followed along.

"What is it?"

Spencer gave her a side glance.

"You only told me that we will have a meeting tonight but you did not tell me where and what time."

"Oh."

Luna giggled, she had indeed forgotten to tell him the exact time and place."

"Sir Owen will come and get you."

Since she will have to talk more with Julian about his ability, she will work with him. So, both of them will be waiting for Spencer as Owen picks him up from the training ground.

He has other knight trainees to train after all, not that they will listen anyway.

And he didn't care.

As long as he is doing what he is supposed to do then that's just it. The punishment did not say anything about him showing results.

"You are really tired aren't you?" out of nowhere, Luna speaks up.

"What do you mean? I just started with the training. And we are getting paid so isn't this normal for us if we want to make a living?"

Luna shook her head, "Your eyes. They no longer have them, you see."

She looked up at him with a smile, "The desire to keep holding on to your sword. To live on the battlefield. You are simply continuing because of the era we are in. We still need to fight and there's nothing we can do about that."

Spencer should have known.

Just as he can understand her thoughts when he looks her in the eyes. She can do it as well.

To think that she'd comment about this just a few hours after he had spoken about it with Eldon.

"You said we should live differently. And I feel like this is how I want to live differently. To not have my focus on the war or even the beasts. Just going on with my day to day life like how normal people do."

The two of them looked around where the people sell and buy. Some were a florist, others are waiters, while some were focused on exports and imports. Each living their own lives.

"Hmmm, I don't find anything wrong with that," she hummed.

The two walked down the road, watching how others tried to live their own lives.

Something they have not done before.

The next day.

*CLANG*

*CLANG*

*CLANG*

*CLANG*

"Ugh."

Kyle was pushed back.

"What are you doing?" Spencer asked.

"You are distracted."

Kyle scratched the back of his head, "After I found out that Richard is actually at our place. I have this strong desire to go home and learn more from him."

Spencer rolled his eyes, "Can't you be more honest than you already are?"

Kyle stood up, "Can't time just move faster?"

"Come here and let me beat you up even more," Spencer stepped forward.

"Wai- I'm joking. I'm joking!!!"

Kyle ended up being one sidedly beaten up.

"Are you done with your laps?"

Spencer turned to Lilian and Patrick when they came over breathing heavily.

"Yes, sir!!"

"Good now swing your swords one thou- five hundred times."

Patrick and Lilian looked like they were about to cry.

Spencer wished to say one thousand it was what they were used to at the beginning of their training to become the heroes.

"..."

His lips twitched. They were just six then, how can that loose screw king do that?

Patrick and Lilian thought he was looking that way because they looked so unwilling to do it.

"We'll do it!!" Patrick exclaimed.

In fear that he might beat them more just like Kyle, who was still lying on the ground.

Spencer blinked, snapping out of his thoughts. He looked at them as they did what he asked.

'Well, I guess it turned out just fine?' he thought seeing as they are already willing to do it even though he was simply distracted by something else.

"You're a demon."

He turned to see Eldon.

He was actually the first one he had beaten up, and was tasked to run ten laps around the training ground.

Spencer smirked at him, sending shivers down his spine, he had misspoken.

"Kyle, go and run that ten laps now. How can you let your mind wander when you are in training?"

Kyle was already crying as he started running.

"Come," Spencer then said to Eldon, who pulled out his sword to prepare for another bout.

While they were doing this, the rest of the knight trainees started seeing something else in them.

"Hey, don't you think that the aura in those five started improving as compared to when they first went against him?"

Kyle and the rest were no longer beaten up with a single move. They are now able to keep up more with Spencer.

Of course, Spencer also lowered the strength he used but just like yesterday, he was amazed at the capability of these four. They are learning faster and it is quite fun for him to train them even more.

"Yeah, but wasn't it just two days?"

"Hmmph, you are just seeing things. Let's get back to our own things," the man that Spencer played around with yesterday harrumphed.

His pride couldn't let it go.

He was a son of a renowned count's family who prided themselves with their broad swords. But that man who is four years younger than him actually dared to play with him?

His movements stopped when he thought of something.

A wicked smile appeared on his lips.

There is a reason why he was made their swordsmanship trainer and not an ability trainer.

He has the lightning ability.

Lightning ability is under the star, Vol.

It is on the same level as the fire, water, earth, and wind abilities. Though some have their own strength, these five are still known for their explosiveness and adaptability when it comes to battles.

A lightning bolt can strike down a large group or a big individual, depending on who they are facing. The explosiveness also depends on how they can control it.

But it can also be a defensive power with lightning rain skill, allowing lightning to continuously rain down giving the teammate an enclosure from their enemies. Though this amount of power will also need a large amount of mana. That is why, not many could really use it to their hearts content especially during wars.

It can be the last resort.

Once day training ends, Spencer once again laid down in a shaded area and drifted to sleep.

He turned to his side in time for a small lightning to fall on the space behind him.

He once again shifted without opening his eyes and the space that a part of his body was occupying was once again hit by a small lightning.

He continued shifting in his sleep until his surroundings turned black from all the small lightning, yet he continued sleeping without a care to his surroundings.

"What happened here?"

It was only when he heard someone speak did he open his eyes.

"Sir Nicholas?" he asked standing up.

"Nicholas is fine," Nicholas waved his hand while looking at the patch of black that Spencer was lying on.

"Did you perhaps unconsciously use your fire here?" he continued asking.

Spencer laughed, "I am not so careless as to allow my ability to go rampant while I am sleeping."

He looked down at it, a glint passed by his eyes.

"Let's just say that it is a mischievous action by my cute knight trainee?"

Nicholas squinted, 'Cute?'

There are only a few numbers in the current knight trainees who are younger than Spencer.

Nevertheless, he chose not to ask.

Just like him and Owen, they knew that a lot of knight trainees wouldn't like these adventurers to suddenly appear and take over positions they still couldn't get.

The hurdle that the crown prince actually gave this group is quite high. But it also means that he has high expectations of them.

"Anyway, what brought you here?" Spencer looked back at him.

"I want to spar with you. I was on break when I saw you and thought of the stories I heard from the crown prince."

Spencer blinked before smiling meaningfully and nodding his head.

"I don't see any need to reject your offer. Especially since I have some cute audience around."

Nicholas did feel the stares and understood why Spencer was smiling this way.

He unsheathed his sword, "Shall we then?"
